Glenn "DADoES" that is the rear of that Frigidaire "1-18" Dryer. The Holes on the back "Bulk-Head" are where the Heat distributes through, with the Lint Filter being in the Lower Front, of the Drum opening. I had an Avocado Matched Set that I bought in 1976 and later on sold them to a Woman Friend that needed a Washer and Dryer, after her house was burned down and they lost everything, except fortunately not their lives. I sure wish that I had another Set to sell her, so I would no doubt still have these.

Mike, I'm surprised that a machine with unusual washing action (agitator moves up and down 360 times a minute) as well as a fill circle spray fill doesn't appeal to you!!! Go to "See it Wash" and watch the 1-18 video. You'll be surprised...
 
I recommend that if anyone here is seriously interested in these to follow this auction and bid at the last possible second. Remember the last 1-18 set on eBay that was sniped with 10 seconds to spare. These are a great set and I hope someone gets them that would use them and cherish them forever. I do think the price will climb higher toward the end but they are worth it. Happy bidding (and no I'm not the seller!) Patrick

I'll be happy to pick these up for someone and store them in my basement until they can get up this way, which would relieve the stress of having to immediately pick them up or the expense of having them shipped. So, if someone here wants these, they can contact me and we'll work that out. I don't think I'd want to buy them on "spec", though.

So, just to be clear, if someone here wants them, they should let me know in advance and they should win the auction. Then, if it's helpful, I'll pick them up and put them in my basement until you can get here to pick them up. And I can keep them until Spring if you want me to. I have lots of basement space.
 
The best I can tell ya is...

This pair may be a great washer/dryer set. I have no doubt. The thing is, I don't like wood grain controls and no lighted controls and the color doesn't do it for me (although not nearly as offensive as, say, avacado). It's not what I have in mind for my dream machines. I want the lighted controls and all that stuff. I love my versatronic. I need something that really appeals to me in a big way to move my versatronic dryer out and put another pair in my laundry room. I desperately want a super cool vintage washer, but I just want to hold out for something that will make me melt every time I see it.

Ok I'm Game for this......

If either of you guys can store it for me, I'll try for it. I'm going to get a new home in the spring and I could plan a trip to get them. I might get my dad to come with me on a trip. It would be awsome to have this set for my new home.

Holy Crap!

I just watched the 1-18 videos. Man, that Jet Cone really moves. And the spin cycle looks like it's in fast forward. I can see why people like it. Is this washer louder than Sam Kinison? I mean, when he was living?

Fair or not, it's the game...

Whatever your opinion of these auction sniper services may be, the reality is that this is now the playing field and the new rules of the online auction game. If you want to win something you really want, you have to compete with everyone else out there. I swear by these services and wouldn't have won the Maytag dishwasher yesterday without it.

Like Greg said, if you want something on eBay you have
to do the work to get it. I too have bid at the very
last second and won. I've even had people email me at
the end of the auction asking if I bought the item just
so I could resell it and if so, what would I want for it.

I admit I hate being outsniped by someone else but it
seems to be the only way to get something that is in
demand and collectible and hard to find all at the same
time.

My advice is: don't bid up the price early on in the
auction. If you want it and are willing to pay what it
has been bid up to, put in your bid as close to the end
as possible.

This is only my opinion and all may not agree.

I'm still wondering if by posting the good stuff here in the group, are we shooting ourselves in the foot.

It may be slightly conceited for one to believe one's posting of a certian auction alerted those not otherwise inclined to troll through eBay looking for vintage appliance auctions, but it has been noticed certian auctions in the past have attracted the same several persons.

It would be a shame of the group turned into a clearing house for those seeking vintage appliances on eBay or Craigslist but not wishing to do the leg work themselves.

As for sniping, if one truly bids the highest one will go at the start, then that is that no matter how much or when someone else bids. If one wasn't willing to pay $500 up front, then sniping the same amount at the end may get the item, but one still would have to pay the $500 providing that is where the final sale price was.

I have purchased an item or two because you provided a link to it here, so in that sense, it's helpful. On the other hand, I do a lot of trolling of myself, and will only post a link here if I'm not going to bid because I don't want the competition. Like that pair of Maytags I recently posted a link to. I kept it to myself when I thought I'd bid on them, but then posted here when I knew I wouldn't.

I doubt if a lot of people outside the group are using this site to find links to good auctions. On the other hand, I have gotten hits on this site for the craziest things. I have gotten hits on this site for key words that I have posted only days before. People pay millions for the kind of Google ranking that this site automatically generates. Having said that, because of the design of this site, you usually get a Suds Lock or whatever it's called when you click through, so you don't see anything anyway. Someone from outside would have to navigate the site, not use Google if they wanted to gleen the info here.
