Good news everybody! Brainard picked up the KitchenAid today - lord knows how he'll be getting it out of his car again, but he's got it. Jackie's going to be in the Carolinas soon, too, so this should be migrating north shortly.
I've got to say a public thank you again to Brainard for helping me with this - but you know, folks here on this site will do just about anything to help save a vintage machine from becoming a Kia.
And just for the record, if anyone here ever needs help getting a machine in this neck of the woods, please let me know!

I'm glad it was saved ...I didn't know about the rarity when I saw it but I just liked the way it looked, and that's why I posted it. Looks matter. 
But it takes alot more to bring it around from being scrapped. Thanks to all for making the save.
