Gorenje - any good

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

not a fully knowledgable answer, but...

...I've seen and used that Gorenje electronic washer with 2200 rpms. It has that neat little LCD display with some Mickey Mouse gloves wringing out some clothes during the spin cycle.
I do know that some Gorenje machines were sold here in the 70s and 80s as AEG, Quelle and Neckerman, but this is just a trade affair.
Todays' Gorenjes seem to have cought up with modern times and technology.
While not having any experiences with them, I do trust they can do a marvellous job: Auto sense, 2200 rpm spin speed and woolens' swing & shake cycle do tell a lot. The only thing that is left to be checked is their dependability: Corrosions? Drum spider decay? No ideas about that.

For the time being: That one specific Gorenje machine did a wonderful job, the clothes were spic & span.
Very low noised, very clean after the cycle (talking about detergent drawer).
And above all: What is cuter than a wringing LCD display to indicate the spin cycle? I was in love, that rising jet engine sound of the spin topped it off.
Guys, is there any better than 2200 rpm in a supersized front loader?
I could not notice any imbalance on that demo machine. A dream, if you ask me!

Hope that day to day practical testing shows the same results.
But asked alongside a curb, just like that? Gorenje? YES!
J.

oh, talking about that "plasticky" appearance

Yes, Gorenje machines DO have that cheap and plasticly (plastically? plastickly?) appearnce, and it is true: You move, draw, pull or otherwise use a component of the machine and "et voilà" you have that cheap sound.
And it does feel like it, yes it does.

Unfortunately: Their technology is way better than that, their programming is supreme, but the actual "feel" of those machines is BOL (bottom of the line, read: foreign import crap)

So you end up having a top working machine in a medium appearance in a low-class look. Gorenje engineering deserves better than that, believe me.
There are so many smart thoughts about these machines, you can feel it. Yet they look so discounter market like. What a shame.
Yet, my "yes" to Gorenje is still valid, having come from that demo in Cologne. What a great machine!

wow cheers for all the replys fellas - cant work out how to quote on this forum so i will split it down

@chestermike - i was going to ask if anyone on here knew the shop i linked to as i found it on a websearch but it looks like its your shop so im assuming its good as you seem to be well respected on here, our lass decided she wanted the black 700and some quid gornje set that you sell the WA72145BK WASHER & D72325BK DRYER (the model above iirc) and im not going to argue - i know what battles to pick

@dave886 - tbh im taking that video test with a pinch of salt from previous things the gadget show has done in the past and tbh apart from running network cabling at work my clothes dont get too dirty/stained and the old brown hotpoint washer/dryer gets our lasses parents have get her work uniform clean so i cant see the gorenje being all that bad

I had a poke about with a gorenje and the build quality seemed fine - as i said it seemed more solid/better built than the aqualitis sat on one side and the whirlpool on the other

Like i said - cheers for the help lads, not quite sure if i understand collecting washing machines but i did find some of of the restoration logs interesting as i do understand the engineering and tbh i have perhaps an even more leftfield hobby so i cant really say anything
