My mom's dishwasher died after 23 years of non-stop work. It was a SIEMENS wich really served us well.

Now she has a new Gorenje with a stainless steel interface.

3 racks (including one for cutlery)
16 place settings capacity
automatic door opening (that's cool)

... here are some pictures

Gorenje is a Slovenian brand?I thought it was spanish or portuguese! Here in greece it majorly produces kitchen appliances. It also sponsors a tv cooking game show.Does this dishwasher have air drying function?

Hi Jim, yes Gorenje is a Slovenian brand. Based in Velenje, Slovenija.

This dishwasher as far as I know don't have forced air drying function because it has insted the automatic door opening.
This means that at the end of the cycle or on some programs 10 minutes before the end of the cycle the door opens automatically to let out the steam and for a drying with low energy consumption.

If you take a look at the 4th picture you will see that the door is open but the display shows 10 minutes left. At that point the dishwasher hasn't finished yet, but the door already opened.

Siemens / Gorenje

Hi Ingemar, thats quite a classic Siemens on the change at your mums, one of the best around when produced, we had similar dishwashers here but also badged as Hotpoint, many are still going strong today.

The new Gorenje looks very sleek, I like the grey handles on the baskets, adds a finishing touch while very practical as pull out. Am sure it will be put through its paces over the holidays, let us know what its like , and how you like the third cutlery tray, I hated the idea but picked up a Miele with 3rd tray last year for dad (I swear I wasnt cooking Christmas Dinner for 12 again without a dishwasher ) ha ha - but now am quite used to it although its the proverbial do you set all the knives forks spoons in their own are or mix and match - let us know !!

Hi Mike :)

yes you are right, the Siemens was a great machine, one of the best in those times. I know that these modern machines will not last so long as the old ones,
but it doesn't matter, it has 5 years warranty and we are happy with it.

In these days we made several loads and we could have tried all the combinations of programs. My mother is really satisfied.

Yes the third cutlery tray needs a bit of getting used to, but you realize quickly that if you take some time and you put the cutlery separately (knives next to knives, forks next to forks and so on...) then you put them back right away in the drawer in a few seconds.

And of course another big advantage is that you can put much more things in the lower rack.

Ha ha ... no, cooking at home without a dishwasher is something we cannot immagine.

At my house I don't cook so much as my mom but anyway I cannot imagine being without the dishwasher.
