Yes Venus, you can play with it too....As long as you and Austin take turns and play nice together.:) I have a feeling that I might be bringing some Nebraska dust back to Indiana with me?? Just don't wear Gregs carpets out. We want him to have us back again! LOL!

Hi Tolivac! This vacuum is pre Hepa filter all right. :) I really don't notice the dust when I run it,however I know it has to be coming out of the pores on the bag. So I just dust afterward. I turn the bag inside out after dumping it,and vacuum it well with a shop vac. That has to help keep the filtered air somewhat cleaner. It is really fun to use. I cannot imagine using a new vacuum. They all look like something related to Darth Vadar to me. LOL!

Rickr:Good that you clean the bag after each use.I do that with my Dyson "Ball" or my Hoovers with cloth bags, and cloth bag Kirbys.Makes the bag last longer too.Leaving the stuff in the bag will rot the fabric.I tell people that use dump bag vacs and dump cup vacs to dump them after each use.One should not "store" dirt in those-that also causes the dust cups in dump bin vacs to cloud.-and clogs their filters more quickly.when you clean them-bags and bins-the efficiency of the vac stays high.I can agree-the older vacs had a more "freindly" appearence.Just have some of the newer ones to "round" out my collection-I too like the "oldies' better. Their sound is more pleasent too.New Areos Lux sounds like a B-52 taking off in your living room!!

guess I keep the dirt :(

Sorry Tolivac,as said in my earlier post,I only dump the bag a couple of times per year. I do turn the bag inside out and use the shop vac on it when I dump it however. If the bag rots perhaps I can find the more vintage looking black bag the next time around. :)

Rikr:what type of cloth bag fits your Premeire vac?Does the bag from another type of vac fit it?I am not very famaliar with that brand.Just only used one type of Premeire vac-was a later one under the name "Mastercraft"-named for a janitorial supplier I ordered it from-was for a radio station. That was about 20 years ago.The newer ones were completely diffrent than yours-and all plastic.I had to replace it with a Royal some years later.

Dirt bags and other vintage vacuum stuff

We have several vacuum cleaner dealers here in Fort Wayne. All of then have been in business for fifty plus years. A couple of the stores still rebuild vacuums, and all of them carry hard to find replacement parts. One of the dealers has a huge collection of very old vacs, unrestored on display in his showroom.(sorry,he won't sell any of them) When Gregm was here last Summer I took him over to see this dealer. The dealer even has a duplicate of my Premier Duplex Vacuum. (now how rare is that)??
Anyway the replacement bags are attached to the original metal connector with a metal strap type clamp, like most of the vacs were that used a cloth type bag. They are easy to replace, and only cost about $15.00 .
I restored two old Kenmore uprights from the 1940's for a friend a couple of summers ago,and got all the parts right here in Fort Wayne. I will have to take a pix of those two Kenmores to post here. They were REAL basket cases. My friend thinks they are so KEWL that he leaves them out all the time! LOL! And he isn't even one of us...How kewl is that??

Rickr:
The old and oldest vac places are the best and most interesting-and yes they usually have parts for old vacs.Don't have any like that in my area.Probably some in Raleigh or Charlette.Too far for me-and Raleigh traffic is a bear. One of the TrisStar dist has a collection of older Compacts-but won't part with any of them. The Kirby places here are too new to have anything interesting. One Kirby salesman here ran into a lady(during a door knocking campaign)that had her orig Kirby 1C. He tried to get it for me from her-but she wouldn't give it up.He tried!!He mentioned it was in excellent shape and had all of its attachments. The Rainbow dealer here has some older machines as well-but none available for sale. They did find an older Fairfax for me.
