Great Depression Cooking with Clara

Have any of you checked out the many YouTube video's on Clara cooking in her kitchen? She whips up some tasty dishes and discusses the depression, her family, and a whole host of fun things during the 6 minute segments. I certainly wish the kitchen was done - I really want to try out some Pasta and Peas!

Plus, I believe she is using a late 60's, early 70's GE stove. Love the other goodies she has hiding in the kitchen!

My Great Grandmother is 93 but really doesn't like to cook anymore. Certainly nice to see that Clara still has it!

My mummy still cooks thats way and sehe's 81...I put a recipe in here for her chocolate cake she made during the depression...try it and see what you think...it's under.."have your cake and eat it too"...look under "super" I think...I'll have to go and find the number link.

Ben, thanks so much for posting this! I love Cooking with Clara!! Haven't looked at all of the recipes yet but I am going to try Pasta with Peas!!! Have you ordered the DVD yet?

thats neat!
She cooks like my Mom and Grandmother, never ever uses the chopping board, just holds the vege in her hand and cuts it slowly into the pot! I saw the cutting board in Peas & Pasta but she didn't use it.
Grandmom used a lot of canned vegetables and Mom upgraded her recipes with frozen.
If you look into old cookbooks of the period many recipes call for canned goods.

I've noticed that too Jon, I thought I would use frozen peas in that recipe. I think it would be good with or without the tomato sauce.
