Is this movie

based on a Thomas Ford book? I think it about a man who loses his partner and he tries to get on with his life. Am I right?

My favorite scene:

"Your Spanish is perfect."

Oh baby, mine's perfect too. Can I have some of that?

Looks like I'll have to wait for it on Netflix. It would be way too much of a production to get my partner out with his current mobility issues, plus the one theater that's running it is part of a chain that was a known contributor to Prop 8 so I'd rather not drop money there anyway.

I think one interesting aspect of the movie is that it deals with gay couples before the 1970’s and how things were in the 50’s and 60’s. There is a reference about being “invisible” in the movie, it resonated with me. I liked the Hollywood Deco decor in Charley's home. I had heard that the set designers were from the same team as Mad Men.

A slight correction:

Thomas Ford was the DIRECTOR. The movie is based on a CHRISTOPHER ISHERWOOD novel of the same name.

It is wonderfully made and completely watchable. Linn and I saw it today (Sunday, Feb 7th).

Christopher wrote it when he was teaching at various California universities, and Don was going through a tomcat phase.

I could not spot any time bloopers.

I also suggest reading the book (still in print).
