Haier washer dryer combo.

Guys, I've found this on Facebook Marketplace today and I couldn't resist.

Of course, it's a Haier. I dont expect it to last forever, but it may be fun to play with it.

I also decided to get it because the only washer-dryer combo I have belongs to Kevin and I'm sure someday he'll ask me to return it.

I hate using the dryer in washer dryer combos but eventually, there's always that load that we need early in the morning and we discover just late night, super tired, that those specific items are dirty.

A few days ago the LG was a life saver when my guests arrived at midnight saying they needed some uniforms ready for the next morning. I could barely keep my eyes open so drained I was. I just tossed everything in the LG and went to bed.

What can you guys tell me about this washer? The very first time I saw this model was on the Facebook ad.

Hmm might have an interesting leniage!

Looking at the position of the pump access flap, I wonder if it is derived from the earlier Haier XQG50-11 which in turn is based on the 1990s Indesit Omega line (from the former Italian Merloni Elettrodomestici/Indesit Company which is now part of Whirlpool).

Yep, washer dryers take too long. But for overnight operation, eventually, they are very helpful.

My circa late 2015 Zanussi/Electrolux Lindo 1000 ZWD71663NW Washer Dryer takes around 6 hours for a full cotton 60 degree C wash, loaded to the drying capacity of 4 Kg and dry cycle, which includes a 1600 RPM spin and the drying sensor set to extra dry. Though it will often cut the tine down based on the load size and drying characteristics. Of course the machine uses low water levels therefore has longer cycle times to ensure good cleaning.

The water based condensing system found in most washer dryers is in principle far more energy efficient than the conventional air-cooled condensers or vented drying systems used in non-heat pump dryers but as ever, the limited volume of the drum (plus if the machine is 110V) will always mean that they are never as good as having two separate machines in terms of cycle times and mechanical wear.

Project aborted.

Today the owner/seller told me the dryer doesn't work and she's selling because her neighbors are complaining about the noise it started making during the spin cycle.

We know what that means...

Water cooled condenser dryer

While in school our home economics suite of classrooms had a washing machine and dryer. Cannot recall make now, but dryer was a water cooled condenser.

Know this because one day volunteered to assist in laundering gym uniforms (things that were unclaimed from locker rooms were laundered and given to those who either forgot theirs or couldn't afford new), and watched teacher turning on the tap behind dryer. Found it odd and upon inquiring was told that was how the dryer operated. Teacher didn't like using the machine because of water use, and that she had no other choice "even during the drought).

Home Eco suite of classrooms didn't allow for the dryer to be installed near a window. Nor does it seem as if the powers that be were going to allow for a vent hole to be made, so there you are.

Sometimes wonder if that dryer is still there, it's been years but who knows. Am thinking it was either Maytag or Whirlpool.
