Here is the biggest truth ever.

One has to treat family BETTER than the stranger / person on the street. Chances are you are stuck with family forever.

But that does not mean you have to be emotionally "perfectly" connected.

Be nice to your children, it's in your own best interest. They select your nursing home

And ne'er a truer word was spoken

So very true, Toggles. Ever notice that the ones who scream the loudest about what great Christians they are, are the ones who help out in the family the least...and are always the first to through the transgendered or gay kid out into the street?

Yup, better family life through being a 'good' Christian. Not.

more info

"He had recently come out as gay to his devoutly religious parents, who responded by disowning him. It gets worse: at a subsequent family dinner, his father took him aside and told him it would have been better if he, rather than his younger brother, had died in a car accident several years earlier."

Jsut remeber darlings, being religious has nothing at all to do with being enlightened or spritual.

Panthera,
The "good Christians' I know don't judge people. If they have any reason to have concerns about anyone, they pray for them. They aren't God. There are many out there who cclaim to be "Christians' but are only using that as a shield to hide their own guilt.

Laundromat,

I, too, know many Christians who aren't nasty pieces of work.
With the exception of my parents, all in my family, are, however, the worst mixture of fundamentalist-bible-thumping-gay-bashing-racists coupled with the most hypocritical Republican mentality you could ask for.

When you look at the way gays are treated in the US by Christians, I see no reason to pretend that the one or two decent Christians in the country are the majority. The majority are hatefilled monsters out to strip us of the very few civil rights we 'enjoy'. They torture us, deny us visitation rights in hospitals, ignore our wishes when we are on our death bed and do everything in their power to make life for us a living hell.

That's American Christianity in general. Maybe if a few more good Christians would stand up for us for a change it wouldn't be that way. But it is, so I shall continue to tell it like it is. You, my parents, many good folks here and the one or two other good Christians need not feel offended.

We have nothing to gain and everything to lose by treating those with respect who are actively working to keep us sub-human.

Another "gun" safety rule besides the finger in the trigger guard unless you are ready to shoot-is that the "rifle" used with the soldier costume can be mistaken for a REAL AR15 becuase the fake rifle doesn't have the orange muzzle end. This could be tragic-a law enforcement officer-police could mistake the fake rifle for a real one-esp if the rifle is pointed in the officers direction-HE WILL SHOOT!So all toy guns had to have the orange muzzle end-what happened to the orange muzzle on the rifle the boy was holding-this could lead to a tradgedy-this has happened!

Indeed, he'd have no other choice.

Tolivac, excellent point.

Of course a LEO could mistake a fake rifle for a real one. Heck I didn't think that rifle looked particularly real but I know what they look like. Lots of LEOs aren't particularly 'gun people.' All any officer wishes to do is go home at the end of his shift.

Excellent point indeed.
