The people that live next door to me have an old Hamilton dryer with the window. Not as old as the one from the POD, but it still must date to the 1950's. A Hispanic couple live next door now, and they never use the dryer. They are first generation, and always line dry all their clothes.
I saw the dryer many times in the last 30 years that I have lived next door in my home. An old lady used to live there, and I would do little jobs for her to help her out, so I saw the dryer often. The old lady had an old automatic washer too, but cannot recall what brand it was. May have been Hamilton also.
I was in the house again, about a year ago, to help Alberto with some plumbing work in the laundry room and the dryer was still there. The washer had been replaced with a modern top loader. The dryer is not in use these days.
Alberto is not so good with english, but when I pointed the window in the dryer, he just laughed and said, "watch tv?" Of course he knows it is not a tv, however thought it was rather odd that a dryer should have a glass window in the door. lol!!
