Robert, that is a spaceship, believe it or not.
Inspired a number of years ago by reading accounts of the Ralston Rocket and the Kraft Marshmallow Spaceship (kids' giveaways in the 50s), I thought how neat it would be to make a space ship for my son. Full sized, with all the accouterments. So, I built one by hand, fully customized of my own design, in the late 90s for my son at the old house. I constructed it so it could be disassembled and moved with us, which I managed to do.
I am now rebuilding it here (started last April would you believe, just now really making some progress on it) but I made it 5 feet longer since I have more room here. I roofed it today (exhausted).
It has full lighting, noisemakers, digital voices, control panels, study area, cot and storage for "ray guns" and things like Battleship! games. And of course, I hang a swing and a slide on it so that if some idiot building inspector comes along I can just say...it's a swingset!
Here it is, the shorter "A" version, at our old house, under construction.
