Quiet Please, There´s a Lady on Stage
"I'd love to kiss you, but I just washed my hair".

If she were alive, Miss. Davis would be one hundred this Saturday.

Marking the event a a new DVD set of Miss. Davis's films (volume 3) has been released, and there are tributes all over the media landscape, including several Davis film marathons on telly (well, cable actually).

So light up a ciggy, practice those grand over-sized gestures and salute a true American icon.

One does not have to be "gay" to appreciate strong willed women. Baroness Thatcher is another favourite of mine as well.

Besides, how can one not love an actress with the breath and range of skills as Miss. Davis. I mean who else can empty a colt pistol into her lover, in full evening dress and behave as it was no more of a bother than hearing the maid was having a bit of a dither in the kitchen.

Toggles, I think the post directly above answers your question, which has been on the minds of many an AW member for quite some time.

My only suggested amendment to L's original post is to maybe light up two ciggies even though that's not something Miss Davis ever did herself. One of tobacco for effect, one of something else for special effects.

Should be one of the better weekends cable TV has had to offer in ages!

But it helps.

True, But since we have the masculine and the feminine parts...(LOL I mean aspects)...already build into us, we don't have to work at it. And we recognize one of our own at ten paces!

My new favorite quote...

:-)

Miss Davis,

As she stated in one of her last Barbara Walters interviews,
"A women should always have her own bedroom and Bath" the bath is a must, according to Miss Davis
goodnight,

I have been watching some of Bette's movies on
Turner Classic Movies today. They are running a batch of her movies to observe her 100th birthday today.

Baroness Thatcher..

Way to go, Laundress.

One of my coworkers was mistaking my dislike of Hilary for not wanting women in government. I simply said "If I had a candidate like Mrs. Thatcher to vote for, ther ewould be no question of voting for her!"
