Yesterday was my birthday so I decided to make a cake... a TIDE SUDS CAKE in my Kenmore. Well, I loaded up the machine with clothes, dropped in two heaping scoopfuls of Tide and.... Instead of a glorious cake, it was more like unleavened bread. There was a suds layer but nothing more :-(

Either I have mega-hard water or Tide just ain't what it used to be. I'm thinking it's the water because Tide is the only thing that can break the surface and actually clean the clothes. Not much else works around here.

First of all Happy Birthday Jason!!!!

No Tide is not what it used to be and it's not as sudsy as it was even just two years ago. For real suds cakes I use vintage detegent now. Vintage Wisk in a can makes for great suds, as well as any detegent from the 60's with phosphates.

Tide

And I remember the Tide a few years ago would just get outta control with suds. Now you can't make a good cake if you tried.

I love Tide but it's not what it used to be :-(

Happy birthday Jason!
Try swapping that Roto-Swirl out for a Surgilator, and using liquid Tide. You will get your suds cake. The Tide HE liquid seems to be even worse for suds. Go figure...

BTW: I still have not forgotten about getting you my old LP's I will have a couple large boxes for you, when I get a chance to go through them. Prolly after the holidays. You will have enough 33&1/3 to wear out your Magnavox.

Yay Chestermike

Well, at least someone baked me a (suds) cake.

Thanks all. I got for my birthday a Logitech G25 steering wheel for my computer. I also recieved a some birthday cards, a Bible, some DVD's and CD's. So yeah, it was all worth it.
