Things We Can Get Away with Saying At Thanksgiving

1. Talk about a huge breast!
2. Tying the legs together keeps the inside moist.
3. It's Cool Whip Time!
4. If I don't undo my pants, I'll burst!
5. Whew, that's one terrific spread!
6. I'm in the mood for a little dark meat.
7. Are you ready for seconds yet?
8. It's a little dry, do you still want to eat it?
9. Just wait your turn, you'll get some
10. Don't play with your meat.
11. Just spread the legs open and stuff it in.
12. Do you think you'll be able to handle all these people at once?
13. I didn't expect everyone to come at once!
14. You still have a little bit on your chin.
15. How long will it take after you stick it in?
16. You'll know it's ready when it pops up.
17. Wow, I didn't think I could handle all of that!
18. That's the biggest one I've ever seen!
19. How long do I beat it before it's ready?

Happy Turkey Day to all~!

oh my...

I don't think you guys are quite interpreting #13 they way its meant...

I get this holiday off from cooking, instead Mom is cooking this year, and my kitchen appliances are all breathing a sigh of relief that they are spared from HURRICANE GLADYS!
Jack is already excited, I've been telling him we're going to Grandma's in a couple of days.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and I'd never turn down a turkey dinner!
Peace and Blessings to all for a wonderful Holiday!

Jeff

Thanks, Launderess and Happy T-day to you as well. Yes, I'm cooking this year. My menu is highly traditional:

Turkey
Ham
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Stuffing
Vegetable Casserole
Dinner Rolls
Cranberries
Pumpkin Pie
Cherry Pie

I'll definitely post some BobLoads®

No. 13 is a blast

I love all of these one liners. I will have to try a few on Thursday when Fred(my greyhound) and I go to my mom's for dinner. I am cooking since she is really not able to any longer. Danish dressing is what we fix. It has the usual in it but you add PRUNES and raisins and apples. A whole new meaning to "let's get going." lol If we were having dinner at my place, the new Whirlpool dishwasher that I have used twice would be getting a workout. Great machine too by the way. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Family is important, we don't know how long we will have our parents(mom is 83) so make the best of this time. Love to all, Gary

Oh, Happiest Thanksgiving,

everyone! I hope you have a great and grateful day.

I'm not cooking this year, and I am a little sad about that, but I'll be doing a lot of cooking next month.

Dear friends (married couple and their sons) are moving to Ohio this week(!), but we will put off the festivities until next month.

You can keep mashed potatoes nicely warm in your slow cooker. Preheat the crockery insert, however.
I preheat my cooker's insert by putting two cups of water in it, and then bringing the water to the boil in the Radarange. While the water is coming up to temperature, turn on the slow cooker to "low" or "warm," depending on settings available. Dump out the water, pass a paper towel over it, and then add the potatoes.

If you're hosting, grab extra bathroom tissue, and for the kitchen, extra foil, plastic wrap, and whatever dishwasher compound you use.

If you feel overwhelmed in the kitchen on T-day, make your mashed potatoes the day before and put them in a big microwaveable casserole. Heat them, stirring every couple of minutes. Sometimes I'll put an extra tablespoon or two of butter in them to 'refresh' them. No one ever knows they're premade!

Happy Thanksgiving all. Canada's thanksgiving is always in October but we didn't do much this year...moms gone veg as is one sister. My other sister and bil went away, he doesn't like turkey anyways so usually they have a roast set aside for him. Gene was still away so it was more or less canceled this year. Actually I don't care for turkey much myself, I don't mind cooking it but I usually only eat a token amount. I prefer it more the second day all fried up with the left-overs for breakfast LOL

Oh, Pete, Pete

TURKEY HASH!

Oh, Turkey Hash is wonderful. Turkey in large bitesize pieces, cooked potatoes in slightly larger pieces... one clove of garlic, half an onion, some sage, a few grinds of black pepper.

Fried in bacon dripping, or real butter.....fry the onion and garlic first, then the potatoes, then the turkey.....

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, safe, Holiday. arthur.

Eat Eat Eat

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! YAY for Turkey and Stuffing and Mash Potatoes and Gravy and Pumpkin Pie! I'm hungry already. And don't forget the Booze!

We're not traveling too far, just about 20 miles to the northern suburbs to Neal's sister house for afternoon.

Have a safe and wonderful holiday tomorrow everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving Applianceville! Besides good health and family wishes, it's also the time to give thanks to all of those beautiful machines as well, whether it's vacuums, washers, mixers, you name it! I know I will have a LOT to be thankful for tomorrow.

I can just taste that delicious turkey and cranberry sauce now...

Petek and everyone, re: leftovers

Don't forget the Pilgrim sandwiches!

Split a soft sub roll and spread mayonnaise on one side and cranberry sauce on the other. Grab ahold of some stuffing and mold it into a patty the length of the roll, and add sliced turkey. Grind a little fresh pepper and you're all set!

Funny... we've had these for years, and there's a stand at Brimfield that's been selling them longer, but Quiznos has just picked up on it! Looks like they might add gravy, which wouldn't make it very car or walking friendly!

Happy T-Day to everyone!

Chuck

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Here is my family on Thanksgiving Day 1955. The lady with the white top is my mother. The little girl is my aunt.

(photos were not processed until 2/56)

Thanksgiving day 2005

And here we are again....Fifty years later. Thanksgiving of 2005.

My family, same house, same room, same china, same dining table, and dining chairs.
The lady in the grey top, on the right side is my aunt. The same aunt that was the little girl in the photo from 1955.

We have finished dinner here, and are playing games.

I have owned the house for the last 27 years, so we can still have our family Thanksgiving day here. The family has grown, so I set ups card tables in the basement rec room also.
All in all it's a good time, and most everyone stays from noon until about 9:00 PM

We have had our Thanksgiving days here since 1930. So with the way things change so fast, it's nice to pretend that us adults are still kids again. Even if it's only for one day a year! lol!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I was expecting my mom and sister, but my mom took ill suddenly on Sunday. It turns out she had to have her tonsils out!

So my sister is struggling to make her first Thanksgiving dinner, and I am coaching her long-distance, which I consider payback for all those years she sat out the cooking in the living room with dad :-)

In the meantime, we have two friends coming over, and it should be a nice mellow Thanksgiving. Just us, our friends and the dogs (and any other "orphans" John comes across tomorrow at work. Thanksgiving is a big holiday for Amtrak, but the actual day finds lots of people on layovers.)

Thanks! And my best wishes to all here.

My family and I are getting together along with Jennifer, my girlfriend. Now since she lives up in Surrey, B.C., we also celebrated Canada's Thanksgiving, which is our Columbus day. I got to meet her family and friends. I guess you'd say we are getting two Thanksgivings this year, and I feel this only fitting since I really have much to be thankful this year. May everyone be able to be with those they are most near and dear to, and then eat a ton of turkey.
Yours Truly
Jason

I left ethnic NYC (Read: some cooking techniques remain; ducks and runs *LOL* ) for a trek to "real America" in New England.

Vegetables out of the can into Gladware disposable plastic containers, heated in the nuker. Gravy in a non-stick pot (my understanding is that non-stick pots are not good for this purpose). Too much flour and cornstarch. Spill-over under coil element flared up and casued a tiny fire. That in turn overheated the pot and caused the gravy to scorch.

The turkey was was roasted in a Nesco 18 quart portable electric oven. YUMMY! [Today's version of the classic Westinghouse roaster that came on a stand].

I was a good guest however and stayed out of the kithchen until after dinner. Loaded the near BOL hotpoint DW. Did manage to secure it to the counter so it would not tip over. YIKES!

Memories. Sweet sweet memories! I am thankful for the invite and enjoyed the event. Hope everyone had a festive holdiay as well!

I"ve had an 18-qt Nesco for about 4 years now. I absolutely love it. My friends borrowed mine the first year I had it and were so impressed they went out and bought one for themselves turkey-day weeekend. It consistantly delivers super moise results, even the white meat. And he doesn't even flip Turkey Tom over half-way thorugh cooking process.

I also use mine for potroasts, as a 2nd oven for roasting and cooking meats in a cassarole dish or pan (a size-compatible one). I also used it to finish cooking teh Chicken Mole for the Texas Wash-in this fall. I've yet to have a need or opportunity to use it for a super large batch of soup or chili, but I know I have it available if needbe. Mine has the nonstick cook well, a must as far as I'm concerned.
