Ok.....I just traded my Whirlpool Duet for a Bosch Axxis pair and I love them!!!! Anyway, the Bosch set requires with no exception I guess that you use HE detergent. I had used it before with my Duet but found that I just used half a cap of Regular all everything just was fine. Does anyone have an HE detergent that they really like? I used the stuff they sell at Sears but it seriously had like no suds and I was not convinced that it was cleaning the cloths well at all. Any help would be wonderful.

Re; My Favorite HE's:

Are Cheer HE and Gain HE, but I just started more recently using the Cheer HE and I have used Tide HE in the past, but I don't buy it, because it costs somewhat more than the others usually.

Good Luck with your decision of HE Detergent to use, I'm sure that everyone no doubt has their Favorites and will also suggest more as well.

I don't see why "BTW" that you can't do as you mentioned and just use much less of the Regular Detergents in your new Bosch Washer. I would wanting to be contacting the Manufacture to ask them why they don't recommend using Regular Detergents, unless they mention in the Owner's Manual...

I live in an apartment and have to make do with coin operated Neptunes. I also have a skin disease (psoriasis) that forces me to use "free and clear" laundry products.

I've tried Persil Sensitive (powder), but that's very hard to find and very expensive when it is available! It's o.k., but I'm not sure if it's worth the price.

I've also tried the "Free" version of Sears HE powder. (It's available by special order only.) It doesn't dissolve very well when you use the "bright colors" (cold wash) cycle.

When I can find it, I use Tide Free HE liquid. (Target seems to be one of the few places that carry it around here.) I like it very much.

When I can't find Tide Free HE, I use half a cap of a non-HE Free and Clear version of any name brand detergent. So far I'm pleased with the results that I've seen, but I really try not to do that. I can't monitor suds levels because Neptunes don't have windows and I have make sure that my clothes are completely rinsed because of the psoriasis.

I was using Gain HE (liquid) in my Kenmore HE3t. I did like the smell. Last time I was out of detergent, the Gain was NOT on sale and here on Maui, if it ain't on sale you don't buy it (I REFUSE to pay $8.00 for one jug of detergent!) Even though the Gain is HE kind, I still found I had to cut way back from the recommended dose to avoid oversudsing. I found too that liquid Tide with bleach alternative makes no more suds than the Gain HE, so thats what I'm using right now-it was on sale when I needed it.

I don't like using powders as my laundry is outside on my lanai, so powders get all lumpy what with the humidity and such.

Here is the latest rating of detergents from Consumer Reports. I used Tide HE liquid in my frontloader for a number of years, but switched to powdered TIde Cold Water a few months ago. It's not an HE detergent, but I have no problems with it in my machine.

HE really means LE.

Try using dishwasher detergent, preferably a non-chlorinated variety.

HE detergents are a scam. All it means is that it's low sudsing and won't break down (creating lots of suds)as much with extremely high water temperatures. It's a way P&G can sell you less detergent for more money. I will post a response sent to me by the redox brands people.

Also, do the math. If you would use 1 cup, say, of regular Tide in a top loading machine that fills with 18 gallons of water, you're only going to need 1/6th of that amount in a front loading machine that fills with 3 gallons of water. Even though it's hard to restrain yourself, and for some reason, we still correlate cleaning efficacy with visible suds, you only need less than 1/4 cup of that detergent. Less if you're using a high temp cycle.

I have spoken. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...
