2 weeks ago I had a new LG Tromm FL washer and dryer delivered. I am VERY pleased so far with it's performance and cleaning. I was using a small amount of Tide with Bleach,<non HE> powder..its sudsed up a little but i am concerned this could harm the washer over the long haul. So, on the advice of my dear friend AndrewinOrlando, I bought Gain HE liquid. I usually dont buy liquid because I think powder is more effective at cleaning but I have to say this is one great detergent! smells amazing too! I highly recommend it over Tide liquid anyday!..Now Tide with bleach powder is the simply the best out there..I noticed Tide does not make an HE version of powder with bleach <bummer> any suggestions???

You should be able to use Tide with Bleach with about 1 TBSP of powdered Tide HE (+/- depending on load size) and have good results. Just that little bit of Tide HE should be enough to suppress the TwB's suds, and it stretches a box of HE powder a very long way. I've never tried liquid Tide HE as a suds suppressor with regular detergent, but I suppose you could experiment with what you have and add a little of your Gain HE liquid to some TwB powder and see what happens. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I have pasted a paragraph below from a ConsumerReports.com free report on laundry detergents. They found very good cleaning results for Gain HE. You can go to their site to read the whole report; it makes some other interesting points as well. I got my first front loader-a Frigidaire-in September, and have been using Method’s Clean and Free liquid for my non-white laundry. It was recommended by the salesmen that sold me my washer. I have been pleased with it, but want to try other brands too. I think I will try the Gain HE next.

Also I, like you, prefer a powder to a liquid, especially for whites. I picked up a box of Country Save an HE power, at a health food store. I have been using it on whites, with and with out chlorine bleach; I have not been completely satisfied with the results. I tried adding a scoop of borax, which does seen to help. I’m going to try some other HE powders, also at the health food store. (Actually Suds Dude we live near each other, you can check them out at Chamberlins Health Food.)

Paragraph from Consumers:

Price versus performance. The highest-rated detergent, SA8 with Bioquest (made by the company formerly known as Amway), cleaned up when it came to, well, cleaning our test swatches, which were impregnated with nine common staining agents, including blood and makeup. It was also the most expensive, at 61¢ per load. Plus, it’s available only online. Fortunately, store-bought alternatives, such as Tide Free HE and Gain HE, perform nearly as well for less than half that price.
