Weil-McLain brand boilers are the subject of the below link...

boilers are availiable in cast-iron or steel construction.

joke of the day

"Steel is like a man. If it loses its temper it loses its worth."

Temper with regard to steel refers to hardness.

There are four grades (Seriously)

Full-hard
three-quarters hard
half-hard
one quareter hard.

Nothing used to beat walking through my office ( I was an accountant for a steel-trading co.) and having the most macho guy (or girl) in there say something into the phone out-loud such as:

Couldn't get ya full-hard, but will half-hard work for ya? Followed by another salesperson blurting out, how thick did you want that schedule 40 pipe? 2 inches, 2.5", etc.

Stop! I'm getting a visual! LOL

Funnier even if your realze this is the American arm of a British firm with a German at the helm. There was NO JOKING allowed, and the office was as dry as H$%^.

Sorry to digress, but I DO so amuse myself. LOL

50,000 BTU/hr average storage-type water heater, 50 gallons
60,000 BTU/hr average storage-type water heater, 60 gallons

whole house heating usually 100k to 200k BTU/Hr

wall furnace

Hanging between and with the studs.

5,000 Btu/hr. Heating need of average room in the northeast/new england area.

Studs are normaly [2 x 4 studs 16 inches on center.] In this way a 4-foot wide (48 inch) piece of material gets four supports left, right and two in between, crating three cavitites.

Structurally equivalent is [2 x 6 studs- 24 inches on center] three supports left, right and cneter creating two cavitites. This allows for greater insulation depth, which is more insulative and more effective.
