Hello Everyone,
I need to sell my Nov. 1989 vintage Maytag dryer immediately. I am the original owner. Dryer is in very good shape. It is Heavy Duty and has Auto Dry Control. (Whirlpool bought Maytag several years ago, as a fyi.)

Parts are available for the dryer. (I called on 12/11/21 and Parts Department confirmed.) The Model # is DG882 and the Serial # is 383525 XV. Dryer has been in storage for over 10 years and not used. When used, over 11 years ago, dryer was in excellent working order and used for a small family. Appliance specialists have said the Maytag dryer is “very low maintenance” and “easy to fix.”

I need guidance please with recommended wording to sell the dryer in the Los Angeles/South Bay area in California. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, and badly-needed.

Yes, your machine was built Nov 1989...not sure who you checked with, Searspartsdirect shows only 10 parts still available for your machine, all other parts are NLA=No Longer Available....unless a used parts place can locate any given part...

I will say the interior looks in great shape, minimal wear/use marks, and doesn't appear you washed much in cold water....

have yet to find a Maytag repairman that is lonely with nothing to do...lol

many times we run across machines that sit for a long time, not always a good thing.....belts/hoses can dry rot/crack and break....some metals can corrode, terminals loosing contact...

I bought a Maytag washer, that has been sitting for 12+ years....added water, and it poured out the bottom...main seal dried out and cracked....'Easy-To-Fix" was not exactly in my vocabulary....not to mention locating a repairman who would touch it.....your are more likely to hear, "Not worth fixing, scrap it and buy a new one!"...especially if it is anything more than replacing a belt!...

just a side note...their all built exactly the same....no such thing as a Regular versus a Heavy Duty built version...

advertise as:

Maytag Gas Dryer....
in beautiful shape....has not been used in over 10+ years, worked then, current working condition unknown...may need cleaned out and lubricated...AS-IS, no warranties, no deliveries, asking $150.00 OBO....

if you want to really sell fast....consider pricing well under $100.00

Good Luck in your adventures of selling...

“Thank You Very Much” Yogitunes & DadoES

I am so grateful for your responsive feedback, assistance, and information. Thank you very, very much.

Of course you all would know that Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006. You all are so impressive. DadoES, thank you for educating me.

And now, a very special “thank you” to Yogitunes, in New Jersey, for a-l-l of your helpful information. So, so terrific. I will use your recommended wording to sell my dryer.

Q: Any recommendations where I should sell it for the best results? Offerup, Craig’s List, FB Marketplace, or Letgo or another platform or all?

[Fyi: I spoke to Jason at Whirlpool’s Parts Department and he told me that parts were available for the dryer but not my Maytag washing machine. I got both at the same time]

Whirlpool/FSP does still make some parts for both your washer and dryer, but others require an on-line search.

If you're on your neighborhood's Nextdoor site, that's a good place to list it since interested parties will also be members from your local area.  I still like craigslist, and can't comment on FB since I've never wanted any part of that scene.
