Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Do I have to touch that green arrow?
Ummm, no I'm sure if you stare at it long enough Jon it will click itself :-D (I'm going to get slapped now) ***ducks***

Two more changes, first the "report post to webmaster is now an icon". If you hover your mouse over it text will display, if you click on the icon it will send you over to the report post confirmation screen.

Second like I see in a few other forums, they list the number of posts members have made. Now that we have a database I thought this would be fun feature to add. Of course the numbers are only since the evening of 2/23/2010. Eventually I will write a program to go back and retrieve all of the archived post data out of the old files and place those posts into the database. Once I do that those number of post values are going to soar for many of us.

Important: Unlike other systems, I'm giving you all a choice. If for what ever reason you are not comfortable displaying your number of posts, I placed a check box in the profile edit screen. Just click into [EDIT MY PROFILE] from the main Discuss-o-Mat menu page and deselect the "Allow others to see your number of posts?" check box.

I don't get hover text on the report icon. Maybe because it's coded as a title parameter on the a-href tag instead of an alt parameter on the img tag? I do see the text in IE6.

Firefox 3.5.8 on Win2K.

Boo-ya Robert! Loving the changes. I've been database happy at work lately, so I know exactly what you mean by finding new and wonderful things to do with data when stored in a db format. While I'm limited to Access/Excel it is certainly fun work.

SQL forever!

Damn Browsers

That's odd Glen, I can see it in Opera, IE8, IE6, Firefox 3.5.8.

Anyways, I should add it as an ALT as well. Try it now.

I still don't see it in Firefox 3.5.8 on Win2K ... but I do in Firefox 3.6 on XP (which I didn't check that previously, so it may always been there).  Maybe is related to one of the plugins I have on 3.5.8.  3.6 doesn't have the same plugins.  Browser quirks, no cause for an off-balance buzzer.  :-)  I haven't (yet) updated the Win2K system to Firefox 3.6, maybe that'd "fix" it.

I saw the same thing on my system (Debian and Opera 10.10).

Another possible explanation for the problem is that this text was probably orginally some other coding system. It looks like it was copied from some other web site. If you look at the places where there are question marks, they are where there would be quotes or apostrophes. That's the first place I see trouble. I've seen this sort of thing before.

I've got it too.

Thus far, everything has worked perfectly on my PC. I think this error is because the text was copied and pasted from an incompatible system and is not a problem with AW.org itself.

Just in that 1 post,
Dave

Word are getting chopped off

in the subject drift even though they appear just fine in the preview.

Lost "whole week" in the outdoor drying thread, and part of Mexico in the Easy thread. Well, not part of the country, just the word.

Hardly monumental, but thought you'd want to know.

I do see the hover text in Firefox, though.

This and other issues with Opera in other web sites is leading me back to Firefox. I abandoned it last year because of "server not found issues". These seemed to have died down (perhaps because I'm being more careful how I turn on the modem and router each time), so I'll give it another try.

Opera is nice but it has too many compatibility issues.

Post 420425 just above for example.

I was quoting your 'you should now be seeing the new Logged-in "Push the Dial in guy"' or was that just too long for the drift?

RCD

Hey Andy,

Normally, if your drift gets too long it just stops. Try it...you go too far and poop, the party's over. This new thing of truncating medium-sized drifts is a definite little bug in the rug. One nose teak and it'll be gone.

I do see the hover text in Firefox, though.
Thanks Rich although it makes me a bit nervous to use more icons for menus with hover text if any browser wont support it, if its just Opera than I will be less concerned.

Mike and Drew, thank you both. I didn't realize the program was cutting off drifts. The problem was is I had the field set at 100 characters and the database set to save 60 characters for the drift. I up'd the database value to 100 now so it wont get cuff off again.

Thank you all for your help, please keep letting me know about bugs like this if you notice anything. Most of them I can get fixed relatively easily.

ps I also see that when the threads are loading the profile pictures are causing the page to bounce a bit until its completely loaded. I know how to fix that and I will do that tomorrow or Monday.

password length?

hey all, hi Robert. Thanks for your hard work, the new features are NICE!

Apparently my profile got deleted entirely.

So in order to keep posting I reapplied again, but it seems the number of characters used for a password was to high, the system would just chop off the last few characters in its "reply & thank you for registering-page".

Could that be the reason for deletion?
Glad to be on board again

Joe

Hi Joe, sorry about that, it certainly is odd, passwords can be up to 10 characters in length. Was your old password longer than that?

I knew we would have a few issues during the conversion, I'm happy its be as few as it have. One other member had their password changed as it converted incorrectly, everyone else so far so good. ***fingers crossed***
