do i take it out and use the voltmeter on it

The new back up ignitor for my DG308 reads 70 Ω (ohms)
While you are testing parts make sure the Flame Sensor (radiant sensor) reads closed circuit "0" Ω.

flame sensor is 0 ohms
if it want out it is puzzling as it is new
was replaced to see if it was the cause of it not heating
igniter does read 70ohms but it is shaky
going to be fun to replace the igniter as I may have to do extensive wire changes

You can remove the flame sensor and test it if you want but it sounds like it is not very old.
The way i test it is to clip an ohm meter (multi meter set to ohms)to the two tabs on the flame sensor.
Hold the window of the flame sensor against a 60 or 100 watt incandescent light bulb.
After about 30 seconds the switch inside the flame sensor will open. (open circuit)
Pull the flame sensor away from the light bulb and the switch will close again after several seconds.
You will be able to hear and feel the switch when it opens and closes.
A heat gun or led light bulb will not work you have to use incandescent bulb.

stumped because everything checks out
It has the old type cylindrical igniter not the bar kind
online parts sites show the cylindrical igniter alone
also this does not have a thermal fuse hidden somewhere
if it did it would be in front right as there is nothing in back for it to be attached to

Normally take 10 or 15 seconds to start glowing when they are energized doesn’t matter whether it’s the round type or than newer flat type igniter.
It’s usually easier on most gas dryers to remove the entire burner assembly to install the igniter where you can really work on it and not have to work through the small opening in the front of the machine. I find there’s less chance of breaking the fragile ceramic igniter by removing the whole thing.

Yep my friend took it out of the dryer to work on it
Had a tough time getting the broke one out
Really had a tough time getting the new one in as well
That metal holder is really tight

Getting the round igniter out of the brackets
It’s easy if you unscrew the screws on the back of the bracket otherwise you bend holders and you don’t have enough tension afterwards and you’ll sometimes get a bad connection.
I always just install the flat igniters. They’re more reliable because you don’t have the connection problem.

yeah we had to do that because we broke the new igniter trying to get it in the holder
