HERE WE GO: Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I have actually used one of those recipes (I forget the amounts of each) and it isn't TOO bad at cleaning. When I used it, it didn't make any suds, and left the clothes super soft. Was it as good as Tide? Probably not. Would I use it again? Probably. It worked fairly well, but it is just easier to run down to whatever store and buy a bottle of detergent. It is a bit of a pain to make.

That recipe is actually for liquid soap, isn't it? I'd love to see the inner workings of a front-loader after using that stuff for six months. Soap + cold rinses = slimy goo.

Here's what I think: Chemical engineers in hazmat suits at P&G have been toiling away in underground laboratories for decades perfecting Tide laundry detergent for the 21st century. Who am I to question their mad chemical concoctions?
