Hi everyone,
I've been lurking around for a bit & decided to introduce myself. I'm not a laundry collector, but I must say I've enjoyed looking at all of your pics of the old machines. I do have a couple of old mixers that I love. A model 12 mixmaster & an older KA from when Hobart still made them. I especially love the mixmaster because it's just like the one my mom had & just turning it on takes me back to when I was a kid & helped Mom make cookies & cakes. I recently tried the juicer for the first time & was surprised how well it worked! I have just added to my small collection an old Waring Blendor I'm hoping someone here will know something about. I've seen plenty of the "beehive" style, but I can't find any info about this "art deco" style. I did find a recipe booklet dated 1947 with the same blendor on the front & that's the only clue I've found. Thanks!

Blendor....

Hey there, and welcome to our group. I LOVE that blender!!! The other day I found a 1977 model of Waring blender. I think it was a gift and went straight to the garage. Mine works like a charm and is super quiet....Bill in Az.....

Waring Blendor

John Oster was tasked to create a blender. He was slow getting to the draw and because of the connection with dance halls and blended drinks, someone else patented the first blender and named for Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, a popular dance band. The model you have was marketed from the late 40's into the mid 50's. Then subtle changes in color and lid material, rubber and then hard plastic, differentiated the years. Waring kept the cloverleaf design into the eighties. The edges in the cloverleaf jar direct mixtures back into the center of the jar and the vortex, which sucks it into the blades and then back up to top. Blender "rollover" for the washer enlightened. About 5 years ago, Waring re designed the Blendor into a heftier and heavier model with a bigger jar, but a similar look to the retro model you have. It retails for around 260.00 depending on where you shop. The Waring machine is finely engineered, quiet and efficient. Enjoy it and use it, but wash it by hand because the detergent and high temp in the dishwasher can cause the blade bearings to seize after repeated washings. Also make your concessions and offerings to the God of blender jars and pray you don't break it. They are as rare as hen's teeth.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. First I will pray the jar arrives intact from the ebay seller. After I actually get it I may make a batch of pina coladas to try it out, but I don't plan on using it regularly. I have a 2004 "retro" beehive oster blender that does a fantastic job. It has 2 speeds, really fast & not as fast. I let you all know when it gets here, hopefully in 1 piece!

Ahhh. so you're the one.. I was almost gonna bid on that blendor but I went for another one, still waiting for it to arrive LOL The early Waring jars don't have a handle so it looks like you're getting the right one.

Well the seller had 100% feedback & several comments about how well packed an item was, so crossing fingers. Pete I'll raise a glass to you when I make my first frosty beverage in my new old blendor :o)
