In my family everybody has at least one hobby. I thought I just share one of the hobby's of my older brother. He is into model trucks. He sometimes builts them from scratch and sometimes he uses existing models to give them a total make-over. Ofcourse he also collects pictures of older trucks (aren't hobby's much alike?). Here's the link to his website.

Model Trucks

Thank`s very much, Louis, for posting your brothers site. Its fun to see someone who has the talent and patience to do something like that. I love the older trucks also, but I have a collection of dicast metal Banks of the old trucks. I`ve done a few models but they didnt turn out too well and take a lot of time. Tell your brother he has a fan in the US. I added his site to my favorites list!

Marvelous models and miniatures

God bless anyone that builds model anything! It takes great patience and dexterity! It's such a great feeling when you are finished and can admire your handywork!

Don: What a fantastic collection of die-cast banks! How long did it take to collect all of those trucks? How difficult are they to find these days?

It didn`t take all that long. I worked for an auto parts store, and many had to do with companys that made the parts and some oil companys. I collected them mainly in the early 90s and most came out in a series with a new one anually. When they got to coming out with more seires per yeay I stopped. I have about 75 Which is enough when it comes time to dust!

Here are some pictures of my hobby. I love to cook and bake. I do party and wedding cakes for my friends. I am currently working on getting my Personal Chef certification and hoping to early retire from my computer job and start my own personal chef service.

In this thread the little doll cake is how I proposed to my wife. Her diamond is the dolls crown and the other is my owm wedding cake.

Tell me they are fat free!

Wow Mike! You are quite an artist! All of your cakes are beautiful! I'd really like to get my hands (and a fork) on that gingerbread house though! ;-)

What a clever way to propose to your wife! How could anyone turn down such an adorable cake with such a special crown! :-D

Good luck on becoming a personal chef! Judging by your portfolio, you will be terrific!

Parunner...

I bet you'd make a good welder!

My hobby has been my old cars... the full-size ones, not models - although that kind of took a back seat to working on the house and garden when I bought my first house some eight years ago. Recently picked up another motor for my two '50 Plymouths.

Oh, and I've been collecting old Wedgewood gas ranges... smaller than cars but still kind of hefty. My aim is to restore them and either showcase them or sell/give them away.

One of the saddest parts of my childhood was the winter when my mom threw out all my toy trucks... without telling me. I remember wandering through the basement for months the following spring/summer, looking for them. I guess that helps to explain the clutter I seem to generate today... I don't like to throw anything away that I might need later...

My brother is indeed a patient man, much more than I am! He does model trains too. Besides that he does diorama art as well, builds it from scratch. Here's an example.

You'll get your chance in Arizona. There better be Baklava!;-)

What a personal chef is:

I would grocery shop and then come to your home one day every two weeks and make dinner for your family, package it and refridgerate/freeze the meals for you to heat up for the next two weeks. Similar to a clenaing person.

Mike

More train pics pleeeze.. I love model trains. It's surprising that trains are not a big thing anymore with kids, almost non existant but with adults as a hobby it's huge (and expensive) Every spring there is a big model train show here at the exhibition grounds and clubs from all over bring in a display and compete, talk about realism, every micro detail has to be perfect right down to the little people in the scenes doing whatever they're supposed to be doing. And the crowds that show up for it is probably near as big as the ones that go to the gun/car/boat shows.
