WHAT NEW FRONT-LOADER?
You dirty hold-outs! LOL

I've been on this site for a few years but just started posting. I'd love to come to the party, I'm in Franklin, CT I think 1.5hrs away? Since I was about 12 or so, for some reason I've been into appliances! at 14 I picked out all the new appliances for my moms new kitchen (she didn't care one way or the other:))

Hey Dan,

It would be great if you could make it! It's always a super time! I'll repeat the link for the directions below, but if you have any questions, please do email! Actually, we had a good friend in Norwich, and it was 1:15 to his house.

Are you interested in a Yankee Swap? I see Tim Shawn just replied in the positive, so we already have at least 6 participating!

For anyone who doesn't know/remember what a Yankee Swap is...

Each participant brings a wrapped gift. Generally no more than $10 value. Each person's name is put in a hat.

The first person drawn gets to choose from any of the gifts and unwraps it (to oohs and ahhs, no doubt). Another name is drawn, and that person chooses and unwraps a gift. Now, they get to decide if they want to keep it, or swap for what the first person got.

This continues, with each person opening a gift and decidiing whether or not to trade for something that was previously opened.

Most of the time, after the last person participating has either kept or swapped, the person who was chosen first gets to decide whether they'd like to keep what the have or swap for any of the other gifts.

This is always a lot of fun, and more often than not there are one or two gifts that are traded again and again!

Anyway, hope you can make it, and let's hope for good weather!

Chuck.
We are coming and I even convinced my partner to come as well, figuring there are other spouses there that are not quite as "enthused" as we are with our attraction to appliances. Yes count us in on the yankee swap, we do it at Bob's family's Christmas Eve and at our Airstream Club Christmas party.
I am not a chef or a cook, but my friends call me Jane Jetson, as I have to have the newest, most complicated, and fastest appliances:) Really though It'll be great to share my interest with some others.......and I really can cook, with a SMART kitchen......:)

not quite as

Hey Dan,

I'm posting this here so that if there are any other significant others that have any trepidation about coming because of the appliance factor (or lack thereof), they can lay their fears to rest.

It is not a pre-requisite to love appliances or anything about them. The fact that you're with someone who does is close enough (and, Dan, he won't be alone!!!). I'm kinda that way, but Rich is gonna find me a little something to use for the Yankee Swap so we can both play! Most people bring something appliance-related in some way or another, so I know can't be trusted to pick something on my own!!!

Two words for you Bobby, and they're NOT "Happy Birthday!!!" :-)

Yes, we've heard the same reports. However, remember that, 1) it's only Monday, so they've got plenty of time to get it wrong, B) this far ahead, what they say will come in Friday usually shows up Thursday, and, 3) we will keep an eye on it and post (on this thread) Thursday night or Friday morning at the latest as to whether it's on, or postponed until the following Saturday.

Keep good thoughts folks!!

I'm bringing a dessert

After long discussions with our hosts, it was decided that I should make a dessert. So, I've decided to make Tiramisu. Actually, the full name is Tiramisu Toffee Dessert. Either way, you'll love it.

C'mon, guys, get out your copy of the Mary Margaret McBride cookbook and dig out a cool recipe for the get-together. Let's all post what we're bringing. We wouldn't want to wind up with a table full of fruit salads and nothing else!

Looking forward to seeing all my "old" friends and making new ones.

......or fruit-cakes.

Too many fruit-cakes can't be good.

Hep! As of an hour ago, it was a possibility of light flurries on Friday.

But, it's supposed to be something like 20 degrees out! Yes, the fireplace(s) will be lit!!!

Chuck

Any idea of how many inches we are gonna get?

Oh, Toggle {tittering}, art thee a size queen?

They're talking random snow showers. That's basically flurries. A little may come down, blow around, enough to cover the yellow spots... maybe!

FYI, NY, NY, is showing the same forecast.
