These are not the highlander models, they were the cheaper models with wrap around cabinets and never had florescent lights.

Like, OMG!

I wrote to these sellers a month ago because I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the ad. Never heard back from them at all. Please keep your fingers crossed because I'm hoping I'll get a response! Wow!

Oh, such fond turquoise memories!

Very nice!  It would be interesting to see what the washer basket looks like.   The Maytag turquoise was just so deep and rich - even those who dislike the yellow and pink colors of this era usually like the blue-green calming turquoise.  I had this same set found back in 1991 at a friend of my brother - the lid-balls were missing and they had dropped the lid into the panel glass.  It came with instructions:  "If you turn the lid around and put the handle-bump into the switch, it works perfectly!"   Okay, thanks!  I replaced the lid-balls and the panel glass was still available from Maytag.   We're moving the washer down a double-turn staircase, not an easy task especially with the extra-wide dryer but the hassle was so worth the reward!

Greg? Is that you in that pic?

Oh those were the 90s. hehe.

That color set on those machines are to die for. Never seen that shade turquoise before. Its very striking.

Oh may it come to pass!

Yeah, thank you, I don't know what's going on with these people. They're definitely not fast responders. I'm betting it's on behalf of people who aren't computer comfortable and maybe some young person is handling this for them? Benefit of the doubt. If I'm lucky enough to get them I will get these into my basement with grease, a crowbar and that charming elephant Bugs Bunny uses whenever something needs to be packed into a small place.

Now Steve...

Maybe they are set on Delicate instead of Regular. Or their motor rollers are broken, belts are slipping, oil has thickened, voltage is reduced or they are operating on 50 cycles when the rest of the country is running on 60. Or, like me, they have one speed and it's "slower."

This Maytag set is mine... or so I thought.

I saw this post early yesterday morning and contacted the seller. He called me and said one other person contacted him, but only wanted the washer. Wanting to keep the set together, he told him he's going to wait.

We talk, I explain I have a friend on the Cape that will pick them up for me and we agree I'm going to buy them. I'm still working on shipping arrangments beyond the initial pick up.

While I have not heard back from the seller yet today, I'm now hearing someone here on AW has contacted the seller, making large ($$$) offers for the set and it sounds like the seller may be wavering (since he's seeing dollar signs).

Yesterday after speaking to the seller and agreeing I will buy them, I was surprised my hands were shaking due to excitement and the "OMG I Can't believe I got them!"

So... I don't know exactly what's happening yet, because the seller hasn't returned my call, so I can't say I'm dissapointed yet... but I think I'm getting there.

Update....

A little while after posting the message above, I checked my e-mail and the seller replied saying "I'm surprised that I've had inquiries from all over the country on these. And an offer substantially more than asking price that I'm inclined to accept."

Well, that sucks. Oh well.

Kevin

That sucks

People shouldn't make higher offers for stuff on CL. If you want to play auction, get on ebay. The seller should have told the other interested parties that he had already committed to Kevin. I hope whoever screwed Kevin gets a bad transmission out of the deal.

Well.......

Kevin,

I would email the seller and let him know you had a verbal contract that you were going to buy them. And if he decides to sell them to the other person just because he is getting more money then that is fine because you don't deal with people who go back on their word. Also, I think it is really shitty for someone on here to totally screw another member over for a set of machines. I mean really just because you were not the first to contact the seller you decide to throw money out so that you can screw the other guy and get the set. I mean if they were on ebay that is one thing. In that case then sky is the limit but if something is on craigslist and has a set price then that is what they should be sold for. Is this the way it is going to be from this point forward? Are we all just going to cut each others throats so that we might get a washing machine?! In that case then perhaps we should all give up so that the people on here with large pocket books can save a little money on their conquests and the rest of us can just kneel before them and bow at their greatness. I know that we are all collectors and are all after machines that are in limited supply but that doesn’t mean we have to act like we have the morals of Guinea Pigs.
