Two weeks ago I was able to see first hand just what a kitchen completely outfitted with gorgeous turquoise St. Charles steel cabinets looks like.  This kitchen also had its original built-in Preway electric oven and cooktop in brushed stainless steel, and the original turquoise KitchenAid dishwasher.  I believe it is a Superba, but I'm no dw expert.  I also loved the glass cupboard above the countertop for storing glassware.  I'm afraid that whoever buys this property will destroy this very intact vintage kitchen.  The refrigerator was replaced within the last 5 years with a brushed stainless steel side by side GE fridge.  I just wish the pics in real estate listing were better.  The pic showing the glass cupboard shows the dw in the background.

Good Old Wausau....

You know Tim I don't think I ever shared with you that when my folks lived on Oriole Lane in the 50's they built their home and selected Youngstown Cabinets for their kitchen.  I wasn't alive but have slides of their kitchen, very fun but no dishwasher from what I can tell.

That home, although probably older than the 50's, has alot of 60's hold-overs in the way of decor! I see drapes and furniture and built-ins galore! The kitchen is great as well. But my favorite part is the aqua and peach bathroom!

Yes, that house was built around 1900 or a little before.  The entire neighborhood is one the older areas of town.  I also didn't realize that St. Charles cabinets are still being made today in MS.

The shame is...

Some fool will buy it and rip it all out, having no idea just how good all this is, that dishwasher will outwash ANY! new one, in about 1/4 the time!! I would love to have the whole set up in my house.

I was thinking the same thing. I think the house if fabulous! I wouldn't change a single thing.

A completely intact Youngstown kitchen is a fantastic find, and if it were in a mid-century house it would be a real treasure.  But, this poor old house has been so egregiously remuddled it makes me queazy.   From the late Victorian style entry hall with handsome staircase most likely painted in the 30's when Colonial Revival was all the rage, to the Brady Bunch livingroom, to that attempt at faux elegance diningroom complete with garish crystal cobweb catcher, to the pass-through punched into the cheaply paneled wall and then the 60's kitchen, the house is suffering a real identity crisis, if not a textbook case of multiple personality disorder.

I suspect that whoever buys that house will probably gut the interior and start from scratch.  Hopefully the kitchen will be put up for sale and not trashed.
