at least has a surfactant, opposed to the Selestial Soap, (that dose not seem to have any)

and appears to actually be "soap" with some silicate, a thinking agent (C.M.C) and some washing soda.

Lately

I have been using the formula I gave Julian, ( my own revamping of the original online version ) adjusted to my water, hardness, and number of gallons my machine uses, and it's not bad! Not bad at all

What temperature are you washing and rinsing at to get the results you are happy with? Also, are you including STPP in the mix or not?

Hot wash, warm rinse, or warm wash, warm rinse.

It's rare for me to use cold, and if I had to, I don't think I'd use this mix.

Haven't really used the STPP much with this!

I only use STPP on occasion, and on occasion I'll use the Calgon liquid water softener. It's not near as good as STPP (compleatly different) but probably better than nothing. When using either one, I add to the water before hand.

What is the actual temperature of hot and warm?

That is a $10,000,000.00 question!

The reason it is, is because there is no definitive answer!
So of the top of my head...

For laundry... I would consider a water temp of 110-115 degrees, warm.

At a sea level, water boils at 212 degrees.

So IMHO 130-140 degrees (for laundry) I would consider that, as hot.
