Thought i would share with you my latest find. Fully Working & still had the plastic protective film on the control panel. The only thing missing is the chrome trim from around the door.

How well programmed were these considering it's from 1984. Absolutely Brilliant to watch in action.

I admire anything

with "by appointment of H.M. the Queen" on it.
Easy to identify as vintage. I found some Johnson Brothers octagon Greenfield dishes last summer.

Nice!

The thing about that machine is that it still looks modern - 30-odd years later!

Well done.

I’m sure my grandparents in Sweden had something similar to this one in Sweden 1992+ in their garage! True beauty

Computer Control 1100

New door Seal & Pump added tonight. Well after almost 34 years of trouble free service i'm sure Computer Control deserves it !!! An absolute gem of a Machine.

"An absolute gem of a Machine..."

And none of this modern Mickey Mouse Wi-Fi internet connectivity either!

Wi-Fi

So true.

Don't get me started on Wi-Fi - Can't stand it on appliances or touch screens & the terrible sensitive out of balance spin control of todays Washers. I will stick with my classic vintage Washers.

I often wonder what might have been, had Hoover continued to use this style of shell, rather than going to the New Wave style.

I know the Ecologic range before the New Waves tweaked a few things, like the positioning of the pressure vessel (connected to sump rather than back of tub), and the drum lifters became asymmetrical sprinklers.

Couldn't they get the newer New Wave tub designs to fit in this older, more substantial shell?

Wonderful machine

Craig, and in such fantastic condition. The black colour scheme is by far my favourite in the series, the leds stand out and for the time look so advanced. Gary electron1100, who knows about electronics, always said how impressed he was by the electronics and logical programming in these machines, much more so than the computer logics.

Rolls, I'm sure the main purpose of the new waves design was to cut production costs in what was an increasingly competitive market. I would imagine one of the principle savings was moving on from the standard wrap round cabinet that had been in use since the start of the 70's.

The newwave cabinets were bought in preformed and painted, the panels were just crimped together, this made obvious in house savings, the fabrication and paint shop could be closed, I often think this may have been why the twin tub production stopped a few years later, I visited the factory in 1995, I was told they stopped producing twin tubs in the spring of that year, when they were still making 5000 a week.

So anyway, that's my thoughts on why the new wave wasn't built in the ecologic cabinet.

So enjoy using this, you've quite a collection of machines, look forward to some more videos.

"...cut production costs..."

Very probably was the case. I seem to remember reading that Hoover improved its 'eco-friendlyness' by switching from enamelled paint/solvents to 'powder-coated' shells which were preformed.

I still think that had Hoover stayed with the older shell, the appliances would perhaps have had a longer lifespan - along the lines of Bosch/Siemens and Miele lifespans.

Instead, we had a retooling for the New Waves (which I loved in style terms), but proved to be a flimsier machine. Then that was subsequently 'Candy-fied' and here we are today.

Speaking of the wrap-around shell, some manufacturers today still have styles that emulate that. My current Panasonic, whilst apparently having a front panel which appears to be removable, this proves not to be the case. The panel is permanently attached to the rest of the shell. To remove the tub, you have to hoist it through the lid - after having removed half the componentry. I think an early 2000's Hoover/Candy 'Quattro' was of similar shell design.

Computer Control 1100

2nd Stage of the Cotton Rinse no 2. High level water fill with delicate drum action then a 500 rpm Spin & then it's on to the last Rinse.

Electron Dryer

Gorgeous Dryer Mike, have always enjoyed watching the super quick minimum delay reversing tumble action on these classics.

Computer Control 1100

Fabric conditioning Cotton rinse with 500 rpm spins with anti-crease tumbles in between then the final 500/800 1100 Spin finished off with a slow tumble.

Hoover NewWave models

Rolls Rapide,

I myself, have in my time, since 2008, had an Aristocrat Logic A3768 autowasher (see link below for a snap of it), a Logic Premier 1250 washer dryer A8576, three Ecologic 1300 washer dryers A8582 and a NewWave 1300 washer dryer A8612, which I still have, and got off "The Laundry Centre" aka Aquarius8000, Chris. Unfortunately not in current usable state admittedly and most would turn their noses up at washer dryers generally for their drying performances, but when it works, the NewWave works perfectly, both washing & drying, it's not in working order currently, due to a propensity to enjoy blowing the fuse, "watt" it's doing this for, I'm unsure, but it's on the to do list along with my recent acquisition Míele SoftTronic 1500 washer dryer WT945S (snaps of, in pictures).

I've not noticed, myself that the cabinetry to my NewWave to be flimsy, particularly, only thing that's loose is the lid atm. The door catches slightly as you open/close, but for a 23yr old machine saved from scrap by Chris, it's weathered pretty well on the outside & inside, far as I can see, the only bit of rust I've noticed is on the bottom metal strip that borders the bottom edge of the cabinet where the wheels & feet are situated.

I love the cascade fill and spin-wash feature of this model, and the spin burst sequence during "rinse-spins" rather than the ramp up and set constant speed of most, it works quite similarly to that of my MicroProfile & Sapphire.

I look forward to having my own "utility" room to house my collection in and when all my machines are back to full health and are usable, without having to worry about blowing fuses for too many on in one go.

Me personally, I'd've used the door from the EcoLogics on the NewWave, if not the entire door and cabinet, and made the fascia touch control maybe. Hmmm, maybe I'll try that idea concept on a design, having created a Servis bodied Hoover Computer Logic, me, I prefer the Computer Logic models to the Computer Control, simply because, with the Computer Logic, at least there was a matching identical set and the autowasher was 1300RPM, not 1100RPM.

Have a good week coming everyone.
