HOOVER A3294 Electron 1100 E de luxe

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Externally all that needs doing is a good clean & a complete respray. Internally it needs new motor bearings & a new rear tub gasket. The drum bearings are fine.

Very very happy about getting this Electron. I've aready taken the door off & sanded it down, primed it & resprayed it. It just gives me an idea of what the machine will look like when it's all finished. The parts are all ordered & coming tomorrow. Will keep you all updated on the progress.

Electrons

Hello

Welcome to the Electron 1100 club ;-), I am glad you have gotten hold of one these great machines and an exclusive model aswell!

Having suffered using my Aqualtis for the past 5 months i went back to my garage today (thanks mat) and used an A3110 (electronic 1100) and an A3062 (keymatic 1100) and was not only pleased at how little time they took to wash everything beautifully, the clothes were a lot less creased than clothes are from the aqualtis, i put this down to the fact the Hoovers do not spin the clothes straight after the wash, it rinses them first so they are cool, where as modern machines I have found always spin the clothes when they are warm from the wash.

Plus I just think the Hoovers are a superior machine alround.

So I hope you enjoy your Electron 1100 when you get it going, if you need any help dont hesitate to ask.

Gary

A3110 electronic

The other one,
Both of these machines are much older than yours but the workings other than the programer are much the same

Bad news Gary.

I'm afraid i'm not in the Electron 1100 club. It was in a far worse state than i thought. When i took the rear tub plate off to change the gasket the vitreous enamel has totally rusted away around the edges of the tub making the enamel ultra thin plus there's a rusted hole under the heating element it must have been slowly leaking for years. Never mind i had fun exploring such a wonderful machine, but this time it wasn't to be.

Mikes A Fan

Did I mention that Mike is a Hoover 1100 fan himself, here is a picture of him kneeling and paying his respects to the 1100 Keymatic

Letting Go

I am sorry to hear your not going to restore the Hoover, another pity is i have spare tubs for these, though repairing them is easy... de-rust, liquid metal and hammerite paint are my choice of fixit it items.

Ah well another turn up in time

Well Gary.

I would have loved to have kept it. Maybe i was getting to excited, always the way with me. The hole was in exactly the same place as yours in the pic around the raised section where the element rests on.
That would have been a easy repair but all around the edges was far worse than the one in your pic, the rust had just eaten away at it over time weakening & making the area around the bolt holes wafer thin.
I just did not know how i could possibly put the rear tub plate back on & make it water tight. It took me bloody hours & a lot of swearing to get all those nuts & bolts out, but i'm sure another one will turn up in time.

Thanks for all the pictures i just adore them.

You will have to introduce me to 'Liquid Metal' when we see you next, Gary!

One or two machines oop ere require some help, in the old outer tub repair department.

Great pics - you garage lends an air of machines lined up in Norweb to me.
Ahhhh - nostalgia.
