Here's my Mum's Philips dishwasher in our Kitchen early 1980s, I took these photos for a school project, she was very trusting allowing me to unscrew it and turn it over!
Thanks for the picture of your family's Philips dishwasher and those of it being taken apart!
Not wanting to induce thread drift into the world of washers on a dishwasher thread, BUT what washer did you have at this time?
Thanks also for posting the photos of your Philips dishwasher brochures - can I ask a favour - could you list the AAD model numbers for me? They are a touch difficult to make out clearly and want to make sure I get them correct.
Below is what I think was the replacement range and a series that I don't have any recollections of seeing in the shops. Surprising really, as they are very Philips and very smart (the one below is ADG824 E5).
Here is the 'New Magic' AutoJet and SuperJet brochure from 1979, though I think the range will have been introduced in 1978, alongside the laundry range (could be wrong though).
In the past, I think people came to the conclusion that these were Bauknecht machines in disguise? Anyone able to confirm again?
The Servis and the Electrolux I believe were effectively the same machine, the Bendix has the soap dispenser in a different place, the the controls bear a resemblance to the other two.
I had one of those Miele dishwashers. It was a G45. It didn't fit in my kitchen because it was wider than a modern dishwasher. I believe it was 67cm wide. I sold it to a guy in Germany who did a full restauration with a lot of Bosch parts. It became his daily driver.
Come on up, there is a G45 in my garage. And a Dishmaster - just about. And a SwanMaid ......
Actually I doubt the G45 holds any more than a standard dishwasher (its even wider with the external water softener). The Swanmaid is very closely based on early model US Kitchenaid dishwashers
In this thread are pictures of the G45 after restauration by the then new owner. In that thread is also a link to a thread with more detailed pictures from the time it was in my shed.
Saw the mention of Swanmaid, I have this sales leaflet and manual for the Swanmaid Standard and De Luxe, got a load of technical literature for them and a service manual for a kenwood A1212. WIil scan it all properly another night and share. Chris
Also got this brochure with letters for Cygnet dealers back in the day. The letters say ''Manufacturers of Swanmaid Dishwashers' so it would apppear they're related... Hope you can read it. Chris
@servischris I really enjoyed those brochures. Never heard of the Cygnet before. I’d love a look in that Swanmaid instruction manual if you have a chance to scan it some time. Lovely bits of UK dishwasher history there.
