Help Support :

Wow

Well done this looks great I have one too but alas not hose or metal elbow , mine was very rough and has on been t cutted the motor was so noisy but I soaked the bearings in engine oil and it purrs now with great suction. I have been sticking the later hose in the top hole and the big metal floor brush is actually quite good with a nice upright angle. I just got rid of a blue junior hose and tools that would have done for this machine doh! If you find a spare blue hose set and want to sell even the metal arm that fits in the top please let me know as I will add a spare hose to it to be able to use it .

Cheers Richard

Now the hoses to fix and then it’s time to plug in and test, the only thing required is a rubber cup which seals the inlet to the cardboard sleeve of the bag, it’s missing.

Hi Richard

I’m always trawling ebay for parts so I will keep a look out.

This machine has white hose I suppose it should be blue, it is a constellation one, I have to cut about and inch off where there is a split, more on that later.

Great restoration! The blue hoses do crop up from time to time, you just need to keep your eyes peeled for one - both of the two I have came mixed up in other lots. The constellation always had a longer hose so look out for tools for a 638 which has the correct length, although no suction control (like its really needed!) on the hose handle. The Junior 1224 also had a blue hose, but this is shorter. I have a spare blue ribbed flex, but I reckon the blue one you have is a better match to the cleaner as it now is. You are lucky though to have the blue carpet nozzle as these were only used on this model, all the others were used on the 638. The problem with these early plastic tools (and the hose to an extent as well) they seem to give out a sort of greasy deposit - i have never seen that on any of the white ones, which is difficult to get off.

Thank for the comments.

If anyone has the rubber seal which fits on the inside of the lid and seals against the cardboard part of the dust bag I would love to give it a new home.

Will try and make one out of a sink plunger, cut it down till it fits.

Anyway plugged it in and it runs beautifully, floats better than the 867.
Just need to fit the ends on the white hose and where in business.

Had a go at some cleaning, works well with a nice quite smooth motor, not one of the most powerful machines, but I imagine to the 1950’s house wife this was a marvel next to the carpet beater or sweeper.

I now have three generations, next I’m after a yellow and white one or blue and white.
