Hello

Does anyone know the model number of this particular machine?
It is a 1300 spin hoover ecologic with delay start, it has a thumb slider program selector.

Thanks for help.

Don't know the model number Dyson2Drums, but we owned this machine in Cardiff and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about it :-)

Thanks, but it's just becuase my neighbours daughter has got that for the time being as her indesit broke down and her aunt gave her that becuase she kept it for a couple of years in storage, she had a problem with draining today.
Called me and i went, she told me how she got stuffed with an old washer, lol, i said it's fun to have old washers then i found out her laundry had spun full of water or something as it didn't drain.
well, i could hear the pump but i thing the spinning part was jammed and pressed on the sump then all water started to gush out, plus i had the outlet grey pipe out in my hand and i quickly had to put the pipe in the sink instead of the drain pipe because it was coming out very fast.
Now it's up and running but i and her just want the model number so we can get manual from hoover website.
Thanks for your reply, and how did ypu find that machine nick?

Well that sounds like a fun day !

Sorry I don't know the model number, but the pic you posted is definitely the machine.

It was a great machine overall. The main issues I had with it were that it didn't tumble long enough on cotton cycles during wash - it seemed to be resting more than washing. Also, although it did the fantastic high level rinses and classic Hoover distribute -> spins, this particular model would distribute from a high level rinse and then stop. It would then redistribute and spin, but not nearly as well as it would have done from the original distribute with the tub full of water because that was the whole point, and gave more even distribution! All the water sloshing round with the washing helped an effective distribute. As a result the interim spins were sometimes off balance. The final spin was spectacular though, this time a proper distribute straight to an 800 spin with `water down the glass' galore, then the classic slight dip and ramp straight to 1300 like a jet engine. Not a quiet spinner but the laundry wasn't half well spun. No silly anticrease tumbles at th'end neither, so a gorgeous `stuck to the sides of the drum' finale especially since fabric softener was never used. Ariel Ultra, and then Ariel Future, and then Ariel Futur (LOL) powder was the detergent of choice.

This machine ran the `XL' fish bar on Crwys Road, Cathays, Cardiff, for about 9 years I believe when it was finally ditched in 2000 for one of those new things which would spin with a 20p on the top - LOL. The terminal fault was that having been transported from Cardiff to London sans transit bolts, the timer stuck on distribute and wouln't advance to spin. Worn brushes? Dunno.

Hope your sister gets on with this machine and I hope she appreciates your help with the pump. The pump on ours always sounded dreadful and rattly, I assumed the spindle thing was caked in chip fat.....

Cheers

well there's one thing I can tell you about these machin

They're bloody brilliant! Pre-Cadny Hoovers have to be the most well built British washers ever by a long way! My Ecologic be a different version (more simialr to an Electron really) but they're great washers, with fantasic rinsing abilities and they make some lovely noises. I may have said this before but 16 years and not a single repair for mine =D

hello electron800

is your ecologic with a roung programme selector?
Me.. i prefer the thumb slider ecologics. no particular reason but i love distribution with machine half filled with water.

hi

yeah it has the round dial, basically it has the energy control electron series facia in white and it's a washer dryer with a 1000spin. Thanks to seamus I now know it was a currys exclusive (hence the unusual spin for a hoover). I don't have a pic on this computer but there's a very similar machine in RobM's photo album. Only difference is mine is 1000 spin and the "high heat" button is called cotton dry.

One question does this ecologic tumble, stop repeat, then stop and reverse on cottons? That's what mine does and I find it quite bizarre cos I've never seen another machine do that.

ECOLOGIC

Ahh one of my favourite machines of alltime! My logic is lookin rather sad for itself, needing a new doorseal, module and motor, i think its had its day. I know mr seamus has some parts he's willing to donate, i'm still weighin up weather to fix her or not.

The ecologic! Lovely machines! I have the brochure with the model in question in! It is a A3958 or a A3960 dependant on the colour! If it is mink or harmony beige as they later called it! i would hunt it down!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. The only real differences from my A3632 is the delay timer was put on a slider, the paddles are blue and instead of using 120litres for a cotton cycle, they use 99litres! & 10% less energy!

Tell your neighbours daughter they are far superior to most modern crap! She can have my hotpoint in exchange! GLADLY! LOL.

Heres a pic of the beauty in question!

Hey Matt,
Check out the videos of my zanussi washer/dryer on my youtube page and you'll see that it too does that, apparently theres a minor timer issue someone was telling me, but it works fine!

Heres a piccie just for you. Would this be the washer/dryer you have?!

Darren

Hi Darren
Yeah, it's the exact same one in your picture and that same colour so what would the model number be?
Thanks for your help and lovely pics.
Hey she told me she would not get a new machine until shes finished being stuffed with old machines from relatives, i said thats good for you! LOL
tyhe ecologic is working really good know so shes happy it got fixed free by me.

ooh, how can i forget my gran had a 1200 logic in beige colour, however her brother had the same one as your logic, i remember as i used to be starring at it when i went there. LOL

She's got the right idea! Hold onto the older ones as long as possible!

Ahh lucky thing! I really wanted the beige model! But obviously i wasn't going to not take the white model when it was on offer:P lol.

Hey Darren

Yeah thats my exact machine. So is this tumble, stop, tumble, reverse action a timer fault? As far as I know it's done it since new. It dosen't do it as much as your Zanussi though, just one repeat before reversing and it seems more regular.

Matt

dyson2drums: The model you have there is the A3958!

Matt: Yes they maybe a small timer fault goin on there! someone on youtube sent me a message to say if i left the zanussi to continue like that it could become more serious.

The Hoover 'Logics' & 'Ecologics' never had transit bolts. Instead, they had transit packing in the form of cardboard boxes around the drum-pulley at the back of the machine, and a similar arrangement under the worktop/lid. The hoses were packed in the box under the lid too, for a very good reason: to get people to remove the transit packing on installation.

My parents bought a Hoover Electronic 1100 in 1980, and it was installed, apparently okay. After 2 years or thereabouts, a leak developed from the dispenser-tub hose.

When the Hoover dealer engineer opened the machine, he was shocked to see that the cardboard packing had never been removed, and all components were thickly covered in paper powder. He used Mum's new Hoover 'Sensotronic' cylinder cleaner to remove the powder.

He said the machine could have caught fire.
