The Hoover A3172 Electronic 1100E our second automatic washer after the Creda de luxe rhythm spin square door. I used to love messing about with the 1100,800 & 500rpm buttons. You could easily modify the programmes.

Lovely machines, so jealous i dont have anything of the sort, or an old hotty!
My Grandparents used to have a Hoover Electron 1100 from 1987 and that lasted for 17 years without a single repair! Replaced with a WMA which i actually didnt mind as it was a WMA64 with the buttons, display and powerstream :)
My other Grandparents had one from a bit later, Hoover Ecologic or a Logic in a Grey/creamy colour, this however, only lasted 10 years as my nana had a habit of putting too much Daz in 1 wash and the bearrings died! :( loved it because it was fun to watch, and in its final years, me only being a small child made it fun when it was doing severe unbalanced spins! Also replaced with a WMA in 2002 coincidentally, which the bearrings failed on in 2009, then replaced with a WML540 :(,
cheers, George

I always wondered about the Aristocrat machines, what was that all about? Also noticed there are alot of different models, but they all tend to do the same programmes more or less. My mums old silver and orange Electronic 1100 had practically the same programmes as my school mates mums Logic 1600. I mainly remember seeing Hoover machines with the Queens crest on them. Wondered why they were never on the twin tubs! Great thread btw, brings back memories!

Royal appointment

Hi sudreturn,

just looked the royal crest is on the T5054 and T5090 next to the spin lid release, and on the matching spinarinse.

Can't find a decent photo of the twin tubs, but you can see the crest anyway.

Ok, yes I'm showing off the bridging unit lol

Aristocrat.......

Hey Suds

Aristocrat was (and still is) the brand name of Combined Independent Holdings or CIH who are a buying group for local independent retailers (Euronics). However at the time the above machines it was Known as Tiger. Link to the Laundry Lab and an early 80s Ad below.......

Lol, duuuuuuuurh! After I sent that post about the royal crest I went into my kitchen for a glass of juice and looked, yes, the crest is there. How think am I? Lol. LOVE that Hoover Twosome, never knew they did those models up til the end. Weird colour though, though it would have been grey like the T5090!

Hi guys.

Another dose of Hoover time again, with the first pure Electron series.
I say pure, due to the first Electron series simply being warmed over Smoother Hoovers.

The 2nd generation Electrons were facially much different, boasting square buttons and a powder draw push button, rather than a finger grab in the powder drawer facia itself.
This latter feature, as well as the door release button, became the bain of these and most other Electrons.
Over time, both these buttons invariably ceased to work, with the lever to push the drawer open breaking or getting gunked up to the point where it ceased to function smoothly.
Also, years of use sees the plastic lugs behind the door release button breaking, rendering this function inoperable too.
If you have an electron with both features working - you have a rare-un.
Only apply enough pressure on the door release to open the door - if you are heavy handed, one day you will push the button through its lugs.

Here goes then!
As before, it will be core range first, followed by exclusives.

First off - the A3252 Electron 600, complete with an induction motor - one of only two standard bodyshell quiet Hoovers:-)

This series saw the dryer facia style catch up with the washing machines!
The 2nd Generation Electron is the only series to have absolutely matching washers and dryers.
Soon the core range dryers would be left behind again, never to catch up.
