a long night and sore heads!!! it was time to meet the latest washer along with our youngest member, who ever so glady accepted to do its maiden load!!! heres the Bendix Autowasher De-Luxe 7147B
There we have it, all finished washed and folded, great to meet up and have fun whilst working on the restorations, I was so busy doing & enjoying that I only took a few snaps and there are lots more out there, so come along gang, start posting , and thanks for a great weekend!!!
Mike a massive thankyou to you for all your efforts in providing us all with an excellent weekend, truly wonderful.
But if one moment sticks in my mind it is when the"Our Lady of the Boiling Pulsator" award was given to you, and seeing you shaking as you fought to hold back the tears of joy when you stood up walked to the middle of the room and told us that now you have been given this prestigous award you were going to help the needy in poor countrys and save the world from all known diseases, truly a touching moment Mike
Looks like you all had a great time and I am glad to see the square door Bendix went to a good home. Hopefully I will make it to a wash in at your house one day!! Next time visiting relatives on the Wirral I will pop in for a visit..!!!!
I wish these wash-in weekends were closer to the Midlands, I would like to see some of these collections. I really like the Bendix 7147B you have there, was it the one that was for sale on ebay?
Thanks for a fantastic weekend! Was superb meeting you all, great company with a great bunch of people. It was great to be able to go back to my childhood and use the 3 machines I knew the most when I was a wee lad - memories came rushing back. Not to mention losing my twin tub virginity - video of that to come shortly on youtube, have well and truly been bitten by the twinnie bug and have decided to actively search for one on ebay! And of course we have all learnt the lesson to be more careful with Tesco Handwash powder after the sudscake incident!
Thought I had taken people pictures but hadn't, think I was too involved with all the machines hehe, but I have got the customary moneyshot of the Bendix with Persil automatic, just a shame we didn't have a baby on hand!
Thanks again for a stellar weekend, and thanks to everybody who made it possible - and not forgetting thanks to Al for all his culinary delights!
Thanks for the kind words too, any trip to Mike's is an absolute pleasure. I just find it amazing that so many machines that I thought I would never see again have been so beautifully restored, and talents far greater than mine in that respect. And such a great bunch of guys too.
I did not take many still photos either but hopefully there will be some video coming soon if I can ever get Windows Movie Maker to work with my Sony camera (codec issues HELP!!!)
In the mean time .....
This picture has three rare machines. On the left a Hoover Keymatic, in the centre a Hoover AutoJet dishwasher and on the right a late model Servis 1300. I dont really count the Hoovermatic 3334 in the background as all that rare as they were so solidly constructed that there are stiill quite a few around
has certain similarities to the Westinghouse slant front in that the drum lowers as the machine fills. Normally this cant be seen as there is no porthole, however Matthew had that issue sorted
We debate the pros and cons of high and low water levels but there is no doubt here in this action shot. The keymatic is unusual (unique?) in that it it combines tumbling and pulsator action in one drum. Matthew explained how the machine goes through an initial phase of heating and tumbling while the machine gets up to temperature whereupon teh pulsator action joins in too. I hope video will be up soon so you can see the incredible action and roll over even with just the tumble
I am sure many of you who have hosted "meets" know that sometimes a deal of improvisation is required, well this use of a garen fork really tickled me - taking the waste from the Bendix in its temporary position down to a drain
I'm so glad to see that the Bendix has gone to a good home. It will have many a long year ahead of it fraternising with all manner of equally delightful machines.
