While my new Speed Queen fills with only hot water from the tank on the hot setting, and is not temperature controlled, I have noticed that it is very slow to fill on hot only. The flow seems restricted. This makes the fill very slow on hot only, and also makes the warm setting not very warm, especially in winter when the incoming cold water is very cold. Have any of you "new" SQ owners noticed this, or do you think I might have a piece of sediment in my line that might be restricting the hot water flow?

Yes Normal.......it has to do with the valve having a restrictor built in, you cant take it out.....not saying that if you got one without the restrictor, it will work fine and at full flow for hot and cold....a lot of machines built today have this, its almost a universal valve.....

also keep in mind, the fill flume allows water to enter from the spout of what you see, and diverts some of the water to the outter tub.......I plugged mine, so all the water enters into the inner tub....it was just a matter of preference, full flow, and all water hiting the clothes during the spin

SLOW HOT FILL

You can either change the inlet valve or drill out the opening in the hot side, the opening is molded into the valve and there is not a part that can just be removed. Message me or post it here if you need any further instructions as to how do this.

Another Option

Reverse the hot and cold hoses and wiring. Then cold is restricted and hot flows full force. Might be just the thing in the winter when cold is damn near frigid.

i think i'll just turn down the cold during winter, until the machine is out of warranty. don't want to mess with the wiring. with the kind of luck i have, i'd short it out and need repair....
but, THANKS, everyone for the hints. will save them for later use.
