Hiya Matt.

welcome to the club and congrats on owning an 18580 - great machine.

I am the other half of the '18361' owners club and like my other half can only remember scant details as to how it all works.

When you say you need to know how to put the door release together again - by how much did you take it apart?

when we repaired the 18361, the door release mechanism was unscrewed from the front panel of the machine and was left suspended on all its plumbing dangling by the drum.

so we can all get a better idea as to what you need to know, would it be possible for you to post some pictures of your machines current door release situation?

below is a link to mine and rob's 18361 restoration thread - i dont know whether any of the pictures will give you anything to go from, but maybe worth a gander.

hope it helps and look forward to being able to help more.

cheers
paul

My goodness.

Your 18580 looks great Matt - complete with Hotpoint triangle sticker too. the chrome door looks pristine too.

Glad that the 18361 pics maybe able to help you in your rebuild.

Clutching at straws a bit here - I have the service manual for the very early Liberator machines - models 1850, 1851 and 1851/03, non of which were variable, but were the 4 button standard machines.

The 1850 is probably useless to you, as this machine did not have an interlock.
The 1851 was an upgrade of the 1850 and given a new model number specifically because it was the first Hotpoint front loader fitted with a door interlock.
There are some expanded diagrams for this machine.

I say clutching at straws because I doubt that these early liberators used the same mechanism as your 18580 - they probably upgraded the arrangement over the years.

Just in case they are of use though I will photograph or scan them for you and either post them here or e-mail them to you.

Bear with me a while.
Cheers
Paul

Hi matchboxpaul if you could do those manuals and will see if they might help, will try and take and post those pics as the machine is at my new house.

Thanks guys for all your time and effort its all appreciated.

Hi Matt.

Well I have done the scanning.
I really hope te diagrams and/or instructions will be of use for your 18580.

Truth be told, I do doubt it as there is 5 or so years between the 1851 and the 18580, during which time they will have figited with the design.

On the off chance though that they didnt here is the 1851 service instructions:

1

page 2....sorry for the wonkiness - the pages are held tightly together with staples, which doesnt lend the document to being copied.

and finally the 7th page.

really hope they will be of use to you.

please, keep us updated with how things go!
love the 18580 - a great machine.

fingers crossed for success wih the rebuild.
cheers
