Hi Everyone, I am looking for a late 1950s HOTPOINT ELECTRIC RANGE with clear, color lighted pushbuttons. Either 30" or 40" If anyone comes across one, please email me at: [email protected] ,Thanks, and take care!! Walt

THESE!!

Are very common in the South,Duke Power sold Hotpoint in most towns, and you paid monthly ,the charge was added to your power bill.I am not sure when Hotpoint stopped the Lighted Pushbuttons, but I do know the first one was either49 or 50, 1949 I think,We had a 55 model for a while at home,2 oven 39 inch.

Hotpoint made gorgeous ranges. They offered features that were not available in contemporaneous GE ranges. Hotpoint invented the Calrod element. That is what GE wanted so they bought Hotpoint. It became a subsidiary of GE. For a long time, Hotpoint kept their own appliance designs, but GE and Hotpoint shared the Calrod in the ranges. GE did not use the Calrod in its first dryers like Hotpoint did.

There is a nice lighted pushbutton on e-bay right now. Just saw it tonight. I have a Custom Crest Hotpoint from around 1960, the buttones are large & white but have a clear strip at the bottom that lights up in color.

HOTPOINT RANGES

HELLO, AND.. thanks for all your replies!!! I did not know Hotpoint started the large button with lighted window in 60. I have literature for 1961. The 30" hotpoint looks to be a 54 or 55,I just parted one of that model, which had a golden fryer attachment(and did it fry tasty things!!!). The models I am looking for have slightly smaller pushbuttons mounted on the front ,not on a steel canopy on top(although I have 3 of these, which I just love!). I have the top of the line 57 39" double oven model with all attachments and sales literature. Thanks again, looking forward to more discussions about these with you soon, take care, and best regards,[email protected].....(585)735-5889(cell)

Hotpoint in picture

Dear Norgeway, You may see if anyone near there can pickup for you,and if you need parts,I will be most happy to help you,as I kept many from the one I parted. I will probably have a 56 top of the line, double oven 39" HOTPOINT for sale in PINK soon, would you be interested in that possibly? very best regards,Walt

I probably will.....

Have to pass on this one,but will keep the parts in mind, we have a local Hotpoint dealer that is helpful, he collects Hotpoint stoves and Monarch stoves,He has some called Hughes Hotpoint...Ancient, on up thru the 60s,I really want a 30 inch range from the early 60s with the big buttons, I would be just as happy with one that does not have lighted buttons,my aunt had a 40 inch that one unit had a red button that said Extra High Heat.I liked it very much.
