hey, ive just thought, ive never ever seen a washer dryer thats from the wma range?
what washer dryers were sold in between WF and Wm?
george.

Hi George

There were no WMA style washer dryers sold. There were the previous range style washer dryers sold (WD61, WD62, WD63...). I know the WD61/62 were with the old logo and the WD63/64/73 had the newer one on the drawer.

I have added the scans, one more to come.

wish they still did these machines in them great colours! thanks for the info, but they didnt run wd61 etc till 2004 when wf came out, so there must have been a gap where there wasnt any?:P
and jack, youd just get it all scratched and damaged, so thats not a great idea!:/

Hotpoint didn't bother with WMA washer dryers when the washing machines arrived in 2000, but they continued with the 1997 line-up, the differences then were Zircon Silver replacing Mercury in the colour range and Oyster being available on the Ultima, the range was updated in September 2002 with the elliptical Hotpoint logo appearing on them (blue on Aquarius/Ulitma) with Oyster being dropped and Sain Aluminium replacing it on the Ultima (WDM73), they ended production in September 2004 when suceeded by the WF-based models. By the time they were discontinued, it marked the end of the Liberator-based design which lasted 31 years! and the end of the classic Hotpoint drum 1st seen in the 1990 95*5 series models. So there u go. :)

The washer dryers always seemed a bit later with new technology than the washing machines. The 95000 series washers introduced the plastic tub but the washer dryers retained the enamel tub for several years. The washer dryers were never as reliable as the washing machines as vibration tended to cause various small components to self destruct.

Oyster Ultima

Does anyone have a picture of an Oyster coloured Ultima washer dryer? I don't think I've ever seen one, it must be a rarity...

Probably just tooling costs. Building a completely new design like the WMA would have cost a lot in new tooling so if they could continue to use the old tooling for the washer dryers for a while it would spread the overall capital investment over a longer period.
