In the last week few weeks, the drywall got installed.

That's Helen and that little squirt is my cousin's grandson aka The Little Monster.

Why do Bricks have holes?

I think the bricks have holes in them so that mortar/concrete that is used helps to bond them.
'
So....When the bricks are laid, their holes are filled with mortar! LOL.

Bricks with Holes

Jason,

All bricks with holes are made by Swiss masons. Safer, less apt to get involved in neighborhood controversy and when it rains your house smells like chocolate.

I hope that clears it up.

Subject drifts back to house

So Jason, the house is looking gr8! Have you picked out your colors/paint?
BTW, what is that platform? (pic 2) I thought you might have a cajun dance floor/crawfish boiler area....
Or is this raised up platform where the W/D go?
Please do tell.

Platform

It's just extra sheets of drywall but can be converted to dancefloor/stage area.

No way, chere, you berl da crawfish outside unda da carporch so's I can sit in da rockin chair an play mah 'ccordion.

Boiled crawfish

I had some last night.

MMMMMM MMMMMmm!!!!!!

They were big, but they weren't tough yet. Usually late in the season they start getting tough and hard to peel. These were hot and peppered just like they should be.

Themed Wash-ins

Jason, Here's an idear for yas:

A theme-wash-in would be a good idea.
Hillbilly wash-in, mardi-gras wash-in..etc...etc..

Blame it on Castro....lol

YAY!!! Thanks for posting, it's coming along nicely! Soon you'll have room for a Frigidaire WO-65 and TR-60 set and then some...;-)

That stuff you and your dad referred to as "cat shit" is actually drywall spackling compound...used to fill holes and/or uneven gaps and comes in very handy if the wall isn't going to be textured, which I see is the case here. Otherwise you'd just roll out the texture over everything.

There's an Acme Brick facility near us as well...nice! I think that platform would be perfect for a band or singer, and the living room could double as the dance or wash floor! Then it would be a country wash-in with live music...

Glad you enjoyed the Cajun crawfish, now send me some, LOL! I was really looking forward to eating them at our auto mechanics/faculty barbecue yesterday, but no store in Houston could order any, and we couldn't reach the place near us! Apparently there was a crawfish shortage of some kind. So it was just peppered chicken halves, which were just as good as we kept the pits at 225-250 degrees and juiced them up with mop sauce every 10-20 minutes...delicious!

Question: Do you eat the "head meat" or throw the rest away? It's just the tails for me; the other stuff is GROSS!
