How do I fix this? Brainstorm with me please...

Hi guys,
I'm trying to get the pump working on my Maytag N2LP. The shaft wheel broke free from the shaft/knurled nut and is actually stripped. It fits loose on there now.

I've tried loads of teflon tape around the knurled nut with super glue, jamming the rubber wheel back onto the knurled nut/shaft. The pump worked for about 10 minutes and then the teflon must have smoothed out and it's spinning free again.

I don't know where to go from here. I have JB weld but I don't know if that's appropriate.
I also don't have the patience to watch glue dry. Laundry needs to get done!

Is there any possible way of mechanically fixing this wheel back to the shaft?

I can't think of what to do ..... It needs to become one again.

5 minute epoxy should work on that.....just make sure you get the right one....

it will be ready once set in about an hour!....

you may have to tape off some areas to keep it contained until set....and clean all parts thoroughly before gluing....

JB weld and a ton of super glue seemed to do the trick. For who knows how long, that is the question. If anyone has this part (shaft and wheel) from a junker, let me know!

Want to hear something crazy? I was washing today and a stretchy nylon undergarment got wound around the lower roller. It wasn't the first thing that jammed. I had to remove the top part of the wringer assembly and dissect the articles from the lower roller.
This piece that jammed however, I don't know WHAT happened, but the wringer head started whipping around 360, FAST... Scared the crap out of me, as I heard a gear going click click click click click.... RAN for the plug and fixed it.

I don't know what happened, or why I couldn't stop it. Slamming on the "press to release" didn't stop the jam before the whole wringer head started whipping around. I suppose it all happened so fast, but I'd imagine quick moving the roller activate/deactivate lever to the neutral position probably would have cut power to the wringers, correct?

What a scare, but doesn't seem to be broken. Rollers roll in both directions and all wringer head action via the control seems proper.
There's a little slop 1/8"-1/4" forward to back of the wringer head with the lever in the locked position. I do believe it was like this before. Not sure if that slop is normal or not...

Hopefully I didn't do any damage...
These are tough cookies for sure, and I'll be much more careful next time.

Anyone ever have this happen before? Roller jam and wringer head whip around 360 fast, click click click..... ?

Swinging Wringer

There is a locking pawl that is supposed to keep the wringer from swing around violently if it jams under load, I would suggest you inspect and repair this part as it can be a little dangerous if you are hit by the wringer assembly when it starts swinging.

 

The pump drive pulley is a tough thing to make a lasting repair on, if you can not find a good used or new water pump I would consider installing an electric drain pump on the washer.
