Why do you use the Permanent Press cycle for jeans? I know the BD Kenmores spin at about 525rpms on the Regular cycle which is slow going by today's standards. Just curious.

The combo is a rare machine for sure.

Mixing colors, you are just the typical trouble seeking teenager. Even I never lived that dangerously.

I like your almond belt drive Kenmore. I have to admit with all the machines I have had I have never had a almond Kenmore BELT drive. I've had a top. I have had a almond Whirlpools. I've had Almond Whirlpool/kenmore dryers. Hmmm. I'm a bit envious.

Ah yes, the slight altering of this here or that there. I remember those day. I get the raising of the water level thing. It is easy enough to do by holding the knob between 2 levels or adjusting the set screw.
However, and it has been a while since I have taken one of these apart and I'm sure someone else may know more.
The first thought that comes to mind is that you probably don't want to fill the tub above the heigth of the spin tube. Even though there is, or should be a rubber gasket between the spin tube and agitator shaft. It may leak water down between the spin tube and agitator shaft and cause a number of problems.

Mixing colors

Hi Erik,

I did a large mixed load only for the sake of doing a BobLoad®. Glenn knows that I generally underload the machines because of my sorting. When I do "normal" laundry, I separate the darks, lights, bedsheets, etc. If I have a lot of jeans, I do an all-jeans load separate from the "soft darks". Since it was cold water, I didn't have a color-bleeding problem. Then again, I've never had anything bleed on any mixed load I've done down there.

Filling above the spin tube and agitator shaft will not harm the machine. If you remove the agitator from a direct-drive Kenmore, you will see that the agitate shaft and spin tube are much lower than where the water level normally rises. The same goes with some belt-drives; Jason's Frankenmore and my 24" for example. The spin tubes on those are fairly low in the tub, while the agitate shaft of course is normal length.

I mix dark and light colors all the time..

In my experience if you use a detergent made for colors you don't get the bleeding. I use the Perma-Press cycle that uses warm water and have had no problems with bleeding or fading.

I'll even put a scoop of Oxi-Clean in they are especially dirty and don't have the bleeding or fading.

Yes, I live in a remote part of town with no DSL or cable. The only high-speed I can get is at work and they don't know about my washer thang yet so, I gotta keep it on the down low.

I hate dial up... I had it for umpteen years and then in 2003 i got teed off at ATT and switched and never looked back.. Now if the verizon wireless lap top cards wheren't so much

The Sprint cards are 'posed to be better than Suckular, I mean, Cingular Edge cards. But U GOTTA sign a 2-year slave agreement with them to own one. I guess I'll wait until the Cable company decides to run digital cable to our part of town. DSL is a no-go. Too far away from the CO. Satellite sucks becuase if you download a certain amount in a month, they cut you off.
