Can anyone tell me about this washer. I was at an estate sale and came across this washer in the basement. I have never heard of a Hudson washer before. This is at an estate sale in the Detroit area this weekend.

My grandparents had an almost identical dryer when I was growing up. Knobs, pushbuttons, floating control panel, font etc were identical. Only difference was the yellow on this machine was pink on theirs. It was a Viking - a house brand for Eatons Department Store. Dryer had a top access lint filter but was definitely not Whirlpool made. I believe it was built by Franklin, probably for several different department store in-house brands.

I'd grab it in a heartbeat!

I think to this very day, I mourn the loss of Hudson's department stores in Michigan and Marshall Fields in Chicago. People today will never know what it was like to shop in an actual department store that did and sold everything. And then when you were tired, you could go to the in store restaurant and have a bite to eat and relax while your packages were being gift wrapped and even being sent to shipping.
