Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Well, I hope her boyfriend doesn't try to do sous-vide here in Brazil.

The thermocirculator costs comething around 9 thousand dollars.

The vaccum sealer costs 4 thousand dollars.

If you want to go ahead and do it professionally, a professional combi oven with lambda sensors to be acurate enough for sous-vide costs "only" 475 thousand american dollars. lite Rational or Electrolux Air-o-Steam, 6GN capacity.

But... that's not all bad...

For example, a huge apartment like mine in a very modern building would be considered a very expensive apartment in Miami or NY. For sure it would cost easily more than 2 million dollars in the U.S. It costed 50k dollars when I bought it and nowadays it values 3x more.

A Fiat--ANY Fiat--for $50,000? OK mate, you win, your prices are screwed!

How much is a kitchen toaster? $1000?

Oh, you are converting currency when you quote prices in $, right?

As of right this minute:
1 US Dollar = 1.85150 Brazilian Real
1 Brazilian Real (BRL) = 0.54010 US Dollar (USD)

'Thermomix in the US??? Have YET to hear from the Thermomix rep for a demo----going on over 8 months! At this stage would probably be easier to find a used Ronson Cook & Stir or buy the Cusinart machine.---even though the Cusinart one can't blend and cook at the same time-one function or the other.

What about a KA mixer?

Can you believe that plastic pasta drying rack in Brazil costs more than a KA mixer in the U.S.?

Well, and a KA mixer costs more than a washing machine + a dryer.

And the custom agents still asking why so many people bring mixers and blenders from the U.S.............

By the way, even the Brazilian best mixer (Arno - Groupe SEB) is a POS all made of plastic, is more expensive than a KA in the U.S.

Cuisinart is a premium brand here too. The R$325 toaster sells here for $50. The toaster I've used for 10 years (Rival brand) cost under $20. Does take 2 cycles to toast muffins, and the crumb door tends to unlatch itself.

Sounds like the Brasileiros need to have a strongly-worded discussion with their customs board. "See, this is why we can't have nice things." (English colloquialism, slightly stretched from its original intent meaning 'because children will break them'.)
