i just got them and hooked them up and they work great!! i couldnt beleive it, the guy i bought them from put the filter tray inside and when i lifted it up there was the mini-wash basket inside, i was so excited!

i checked the tention on the belt, there is a tad bit of slack, not much tho, i can move the side of the belt, should it be tighter?

i am wondering if i should change the belt it works fine but seems like the speed could be a tad faster, chances are, it has the original belt, i'll have to look at it. i will deffinatley be posting pics on here and a youtube vid when i get the camera!!!

If you can pull slack in the belt, it needs to be tightened. It's just like a car...1/2" deflection in the middle of the span between the pulleys is the proper adjustment. Tip it over, loosen up the 3 motor nuts and pull the motor back a little bit then tighten it all back up.

Incidentally it's interesting that your recirculating flume doesn't project as far as mine. With the one I've got, it literally shoots out and hits, or passes the agitator!

hey! i am back, i just tightened the belt, it seems like it is still the same, and i noticed that the stream of the recirculation pump is still the same, do u think it needs a new belt? or could it be something else.

If the belt isn't slipping, it could be that your machine runs like it's supposed to. I'll supply a link below to a youtube of mine rinsing on "normal" speed since it appears to be running at the proper speed.

Here's a question: Is your's a single or a double speed? It's entirely possible the clutch could be slipping on it! Come to think of it, that sounds exactly like a very real possibility. The single speed clutches are still widely available, but the double speed ones are getting a bit scarce.

With the recirculating flume, the pump may have some crap in it, or the hoses may have a buildup of fluff and other garbage in there. It just seems like kind of a whimpy flow for those washers.

One last question: Is your's the "Large Capacity" (aka Standard Capacity) or the "Extra Large Capacity" (aka a true Large Capacity) machine? Mine's a "Large Capacity" one.

Those ramp agitators sure are fun though aren't they? If you load it loosely, it'll REALLY get those clothes clean too!

mine is an extra large capacity, double speed clutch, i noticed when i had the machine on its side, there was some grease on the clutch and the pully next to the clutch, some grease was splattered on the side behind the clutch, i wonder if that has something to do with it, it is hard to tell where the grease is coming from.

Hmm.....the clutch assembly is a dry-type, so if you're seeing sprayed oil, look for a leaking transmission. Does the belt have grease on it too? If so it's probably slipping pretty bad.

yes there is some oil on the belt pully below the trans, it is everywhere, even sprayed on the side and all over the bottom frame of the machine, i bet the trans IS leaking, i am having a hard time finding a new trans online, it is hard to find one for the extra large capacity, they do still make one for standard capacity.

Your reciric plume doesn't go as far as mine. . .

reminds me of a game we played in the boy's room as kids.

Sometimes lint and hair can partially clog the passage for the recirculation water. It's just a matter of cleaning it out, you can get to it while you are under tightening the belt. The old GE/FF my mother had had a clear neck on the connection so you could see if it were blocked.

Hold off on that clutch....I'd check the tranny and replace the belt first. If it's oil on the belt causing the agitation to be slow, that's your problem.....not the clutch slipping. Usually when the clutch goes bad, you hear it squawking or rattling badly.

Find the oil leak before proceeding any further.

While you have it apart, clean out the recirculation hoses and passages so your pump works right! I'll make a big difference in how much lint and hair it catches.
