Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Orignal power switch

Going to use original power switch and pressure switch, debating on the use of a second pressure switch as a safety device for the heater circuit.

New motor

This motor will have to go to the spares store for keeps, might come in at some time, as it has a digital taco and also a half tap field winding and wont work with my old speed control.

I have a new motor with an analogue taco fitted so should work with the old speed control unit ?????????

More to come soon

Will update ever one when I have fitted the relays and constructed a mains wiring loom.

Will do the low voltage stuff later on.

Ho my god

I think I have found a Hotpoint 18 series machine, will also keep you all updated on this as well, hopefully I can persuade the owner to part with it and find room to store it.

Modification to the tub complete

This morning I refitted the tub front plate and water tested by filling machine with watering can till the pressure switch clicked, no leaks from the seal or the new stats, then lowered drain hose to empty water, job done.

Hi Lee

Cant wait to see the end product and great you managed to find yourself a really good machine to use.

wonderful to see the Hotpoint internals of their last 'traditional' machines.
Testament to a sound design, the fact that take the back and front off a mid 70s liberator and sit it next to the WM and the design would be pretty much the same.
25 yearsish?

have you decided how you are going to have the buttons - push in to select or pop out to select. The former will require you to cover up the 'Select' and 'Cancel' info.

keep us updated.
cheers
paul
p.s hows the 95622?

The buttons

Hi Paul,

The program selection will simply be pushing in so that it clicks and every time you start the machine it will continually do that program or you will be able to push slightly till it starts then release, I all always us the 60C so will probably stay pushed in.

Yes it is nice that the design has lasted, So ease to work on, all at the top and front with few screw to remove and most 18, 95, parts used in this wm, Simply the best.

The 95622 is OK, bet she has been cold over the winter stuck in the garage, She will have more company soon in the form of an Hotpoint 185??,Not sure of the full number,Looks like the one in photo below but with Variable spin speed on the left, which I will be collecting on Wednesday, don’t now what the condition of it is but the out side look OK.

Blimey - the variables are coming out in force...

Hi Lee.
to the best of my knowledge, hotpoint only did one 185xx model numbered machine - the good old 18580 variable 1000.

always a good thing that another classic machine has falln into the ranks of 'safe'.
Please show her off when you get it home.

How did you come by it?

Paul
