blantantly lie like the witch by the name of Nancy Pelosi.... Up lying her, so rich she can't count it, ass off about this damnable health care bill!!!! A sad day for our country - God help us to get rid of the entire house, senate this fall and this president in 2012!!!!!

Yeah, I'm in full agreement but there are mostly Democrats here who blindly worship Obama and his regime, so expect a flame war of disagreement, lol.

she also costs the taxpayers plenty as she flys back and forth
from cali to DC all the time, but that is tiny compaired to the
cost to this country if the dems cheat this"health care"plan
through.

Hey guys it's fine......

I've sat around for years keeping my yap shut but not doing it any more!! Hell with, bring it on..... kick me out - whatever.....

This bill makes health insurance available to 33 million more Americans. So don't count your electoral chickens too quickly.

Yep, it's got me worried, I think this will create more problems and major woe. Government shouldn't be expected to solve all our problems. People have to be responsible.

This bill makes health insurance available to 33 million mor

Yeah and there's so much buried in the fine print, putting glitter and sparkle on a pig's ear ain't gonna make it cashmere.

Then you have the, so called, rev Sharpton....

saying the if Obama is socialist then Americans overwhelmingly voted for socialism - that is definately a lie. Of course that's standard for him anyways... if he ever told the truth - that would be an acomplishment of biblical proportions.....

Now the biggest liar of all is speaking now......

mr. obama - this was a situation where the people were not well served. This is no longer a government by the people and for the people. Yes, he lied, is lying and will continue to do so.

Yes it sucks.... I don't like the idea of being forced to pay health insurance against my will.... I almost want bush back and he was terrible... I used to think if you were gay you had to vote democrat, but Obama has changed my mind. Ron Paul should have been president....

Our health care system was socialized a long time ago. When someone has a medical emergency, they're treated regardless of whether they're insured. Also, anyone can walk into any county health clinic in the U.S. and receive free medical care for serious problems.

The CBO has estimated this bill will save $138 billion over 10 years.

Jeff.....

The CBO is wrong - it's a lie.... all numbers were and are preliminary. This will cost more - no government program has ever come in under budget! This will bust the budget and we're already broke! Say hello to a national sales tax amongst other things.... son, you will pay more - it's a given there is no way around it. No savings only deficit.

It's like....

trying to reduce your credit card debt by charging more - it won't work! Sure, you can pay on it but if you're constantly charging (ie spending) more and more and more while paying little or nothing on the debt then you eventually go under - that's what's happening here. Majority of the folks in this country didn't want this version of health care reform anyway and they see this for what it is

Sorry, but we we're duped and fipped off tonight and I look forward to seeing the lot of them turned out this fall and relish the idea of seeing obama be a one term president.

Time will tell. Obama did what he said he would do during his campaign, and he was elected.

Keep an eye on his poll numbers, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Those who oppose the health care reform bill are certainly free to voice their opinions.

However I am also free to voice mine: I'm very happy the bill was finally passed. I wish it went even farther then it does, in the way of nationalizing health care, but this bill is far better than the current status quo.

I won't sit here and argue the details. I won't respond to what I regard as semi-hysteric distortions of what the bill will accomplish. I will say it will soon be the law of the land and we shall see what effect it has. I think it will be on balance quite positive.

Yay!

Say what you want about those that passed the bill, the REAL crooks are the insurance companies. I too wish the bill went further, much further -single payer would be my goal. While I'm not happy with the ball-less D's at least they DID something, the Repugs want people like me to die.

Since the bill passed, in a few years when it full takes effect I might be able to get affordable insurance. I'm one of those luck people with pre-existing conditions that the ins. co's won't touch for less than $1600/mo

1) Any 2700+ page bill is bad legislating by bad legislators.

2) 30M uninsured people now being forced to buy insurance -- being forced to increase insurance profits by the government.

3) Nothing in here to help medical providers to lower cost.

I said it months ago, I'll say it again: This is nothing more than a government enforced insurance scam.

And it is going to be enforced by the IRS and 4 new bureaucracies.

Not to mention it is probably unconstitutional. Bring on the law suits.

Here comes a national sales tax to pay for all this.

Can't wait for November...

Does anyone REALLY know what the 2700pages of this ruling contains?I smell a rat here. From some of the things I have seen existing health benefits you currently receive may be taxed-is this the answer---NO!!!Its defeating the purpose-I feel the bill should have been more clearly explained to people rather than just blindly passing it-Come November I think the Democrats have commited polictical sucide and Obama will be lamed ducked. And clearly over 50% of the population oppose this legislation.Guess Obama will now sign this boondoggle into law.

Will someone please explain to me

Just how cutting 500 billion in payments to hospitals and healthcare providers is going to HELP! It needs to be INCERASED by that amount NOT taken away. The load increase is going to be huge and yet their will be LESS money .. IT dont work that way..

corporate ball & chain

Politics aside, i like the term Job-locked. How many of us have worked at jobs we hate? Far worse is working WITH someone that hates their job. I know we have all, known someone just hanging onto a job for the benefit package, soon they can leave the corporate BS and have a chance at a dream. I once overheard a CEO remark about a lady, she only works because she is on an expensive Rx medication. This alone could help the job situation. Retirement age people have been afraid to retire, especially folks that have worked hard and have real estate or other assets. alr2903

I dont think that the peace is shattered..... yet

Civility has been the rule so far despite the extremes in views that exist - of course that could change but it is always nice to be able to voice opinion, debate, or just plain BS even in a very spirited and passionate way. I mean I started the whole thing with equating Pelosi to a witch which is a pretty spirited thing to get it going - sorry CA folks I know some agree with that description others don't but it was definately said in a moment of anger listening to her spout all that junk on the floor last evening.

I've already written both my Senators (both republicans) and told them I have no problem seeing them gone in November along with the dems if they don't want to listen to the people they represent and I generally vote that party but have no problem going the other way either if the person stands for things I believe in and support.

So, folks have at it and have fun doing it even if it is passionate/spirited..... least we can still do this without fear...... for now anyways. Have fun and enjoy!

I know that some of our group have serious medical conditions. I would hope that we can be happy for them that their future medical care is no longer subject to the whims of the insurance industry where money paid in by working people goes to CEO salaries of multiple millions of dollars per year along with dividends to shareholders and big fees to lobbyists. Maryland refused several years ago to let our big BC/BS organization switch from non-profit to for profit and nothing has suffered except the fortunes of a few crooked directors. As for the government putting bureaucrats between you and your doctor, the situation already exists except that it is some low wage insurance company employee telling you what your policy will or will not cover. I do not understand how people with any morality or religion can say it is proper to exclude people from health care. Did not Jesus say that what you have done to the least of these you have done unto me? Now it's true that if some religious bodies spent less on influencing legislation and spreading hate and misinformation here and in Uganda, they might have more money to take care of the sick, but that is not the way it is right now. I would like to have seen a cleaner bill that does more to help people, but a lot of lobbying money went into the fight and its influences can be seen. I was sickened by the corruption among the Democrats who were crafting the legislation. I hope that relief comes quickly enough that all of us will have the joy of celebrating with a friend or family member an escape from the fear of living without medical insurance. We need to remember that life holds no guarantees. Those of us blessed with reasonably good health and health insurance could just as easily be among those with serious medical conditions and no health insurance. I think it is a good idea to consider what you would want for yourself and then see that it is possible for others to have it also.

Both party are not perfect but......

Eight years we sat and listen to the great lame President that put us in two wars, killed innocent people to this day on BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE and you don't want to put blame of how we got into this financial mess. Get real with yourselves. For eight years Dick Chaney been in and out of the hospitals, rising from the dead and want to speak badly about the current President is rude and callous, the lists goes on and on. Now the American people has a bill that will help those who are in need and I will benefit from it when and if I get sick or need to change medical coverage because my current policy lacks the coverage that I need makes me proud that I AND A HOST OF OTHERS WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY OF BEING DROPPED BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY DON'T WANT ME TO LIVE LONGER THAN I SHOULD.
This bill is not perfect, but the door is kicked wide open so everyone can benifit and not be denied.

This thread is sickening.

How thick do you have to be to think that health care for profit is a good thing? You really think that Bear Stearns and Goldman-Sachs are going to take good care of you and your families when faced with catastrophic illness? Do you not read the newspapers?

I'm the son of a responsible and good physician who busted his ass daily fighting a greed-run Republican juggernaut EVERY SINGLE DAY OF HIS PROFESSIONAL LIFE to bring decent health care to his fellow veterans at the VA hospital in Manhattan. Dad was no picnic but he was proud to fulfill the promise of a nation to care for those men and women who sacrificed themselves to protect this country. A promise that pigs like Joe Lieberman and John Coburn feel should be reserved for an elite corps of Senators and Congressmen and not wasted on ordinary soldiers and citizens.

I am celebrating today as it's a victory, small, but significant. Anyone that doubts this needs to do a little math. Calculate what you spent in taxes last year and compare it to what you paid in health insurance premiums. And if you're one of those lucky few that are covered by government policies, shut your mouth or forfeit your policy to someone who really needs it.

By the way, Dad and most of his colleagues, old-school doctors many of them political conservatives, were convinced, BACK IN THE SEVENTIES, that socialized medicine was an inevitability. They had seen models of it working in other modern countries, including Israel and Japan, and knew it was going to be the only way to address costs that were spiraling out of control by providers, pharmaceutical corporations and medical technology.

If you insist on maintaining your status as sheep for the slaughter, do it quietly and go away so the rest of us can live.

What is wrong with

disallowing insurance companies from cancelling their client's cover, because they suddenly don't want to pay anymore for the treatment of chronic conditions, or refusing cover for children with pre-existing conditions?

How many of the people whingeing about this new policy are actually high income earners, I wonder? Being a high income earner, whatever premium increases this policy may cause
to their insurance premiums will still be relatively small in terms of their total disposable income. Those who are not high income earners, well, isn't this new policy meant to make health cover more affordable/accessible?

For those who are complaining about being 'forced' to buy health insurance - as long as you are healthy that may well be an acceptable perspective; until the unthinkable happens of course.

So, do I understand this correctly? Under the present system, if I develop a heart condition, for which I am never checked, because I haven't the insurance or the cash to pay for specialist services; I just rock up at any hospital ER, when I go into cardiac arrest, to have my bypass surgery free of charge?

How does it work with insulin for those with diabetes, who have no insurance or sufficient income to pay for it out of their own pocket?

What if I am HIV positive? Do I still get AZT and other important medications if I don't have insurance/money?

Would it, perhaps, have pleased people more if Obama had introduced euthanasia packages as part of his health care reform? Targeting those with chronic and/or terminal illnesses, who earn less than $50 k per annum, the poor, long-term unemployed, mentally ill/retarded. Perhaps anyone with a BMI in excess of 25? They could be placed on an accelerated euthanasia program that offers cash incentives for their families or a charity of their choice. Imagine, from an economic perspective this would solve all of America's financial woes. Anyone who visits an ER without insurance should be forced to sell their organs to pay for their treatments maybe.

Just some creative ideas to think about.

Good night

Olav

I, too, am angry

at many of the responses in this thread.

No, it is not perfect, but it is a major step ahead for this country.

The insurance companies should be regulated, but that probably will not happen any time soon.

I now have medical coverage, but did not have coverage for over twenty years. During that time, I had a heart attack, developed Type II diabetes, had several broken bones.....

Yes, people have to be treated up to stable condition in ERs, but that is no substitute at all for a regular practitioner and regular preventative care.

I wish I could say I was shocked by some of the attitudes expressed in this thread, but I am not, not at all.

I've never heard anyone get on tv and

blantantly lie like the bastard by the name of George W Bush .... Up lying his, so rich he can't count it, not enough fingers, ass off about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. How many kabillions or trillions of dollars not to mention thousands of lives lost was that whopper worth?
