Gansky, thanks for that post, and link. These past eight years have been as big a nightmare as I knew they would be. I knew exactly what we were in for, when I saw all those white gool 'ol boy cowboy hats being waved during the 2000 RNC.

But now, as the VRWC collapses under the weight of its own corruption, greed and evil, and as Ronald Reagan's coattails are finally relegated to the dustbin of history, if the worst thing we have to deal with is a fake $700 billion "bailout" -- the sole intent of which is to put our next president and congress in an economic hole they can't immediately get out of -- I'll consider us very, *very* lucky. At least civilization will have survived. The jury is still out on that one though. I pray we survive until January 20, 2009.

23 year old thesis.

So, some "group" digs up a student's thesis from 23 years ago. Tell me, do you stand by everything you wrote when you where in college? At that age we are all impressionable, and driven for one cause or another, do any of us still have the same feelings and passion today? I for one don't. Times, attitudes and social structure change, and we hope people do the same.

Michelle's thesis reflects the world she grew up in, just as my writing at that age reflects my social situation.

I challenge anyone to find anything McCain wrote at that point in his life. He never went to a standard collage, He barley graduated from the Naval Academy, was as much or more of a party dude than Bush, and is not know for insight or deep thinking. So I guess we should hold him to the same standard as Michelle, in that case he fails miserably.

Matt, have you read her thesis? While I wouldn't call it brilliant, IMO Michelle has nothing to apologize for. She was attempting to explain and speak against the separationist tendency among many black Americans during the 1970's. Lots of us are too young to remember the Black Panther era.

This chain email was (and is) targeted specifically for the likes of Mark, who blindly parrot whatever he's told by Sean Hannity, and who're desperately trying to bolster a failed campaign.

It sort of sad that there are still so many people who when confronted with something more complicated than the breakfast menu at McDonald's will take things out of context and then draw completely the wrong conclusions.

I bet they wouldn't be expecting McDonald's to just sell them the sausage patty out of a McWhatever, and pay only 1/2 the price.

Or would they?

How about just one fry? How much would that cost?

In other words, these people waste our valuable time.

This doesn't even make sense. Has nothing to do with the topic either. Very childish.

Agreed. I think the comment Rick quoted falls under the heading of "stereotyping". This isn't the first time that we've seen offensive and unecessary stereotyping here, sad to say.

Now, to maybe get this thread back on track, it's wonderful that Jason is giving careful thought to his vote, and that he and Helen take the time and effort to discuss things which are important to them. It sounds like they have a great relationship, and it's nice that he chooses to share some of it with us.
