I just keep finding 'em!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I really do have the best boyfriend in the entire world and thank you so much for helping Gary. I'm down in Florida visiting my dad and I'll have this new toy to play with when I get home. It's a 1966 model with all the bells and whistles. Strange two drain ports??? :-D

Eddie I don't usually do much for cold weather moving, just be sure to warm it up before starting the machine. You can easily replace the water valve and pump if they freeze hard but that won't always cause damage.

Very Cool Find!
Fred...You are the best boyfriend in the world!
I can't get over you guys did not snag the gas matching dryer! It is a great dryer! I hope they don't trash it.
Looks like you guys had fun and had a good workout!

1966 Lady Kenmore

Hi Fred Thats the same washer I gave my parents when they moved to the twin cities. That one was turquoise also with sudsaver it lasted till 1982 when I sent them a new LHA5750 BD sudsaver which is still going strong. The LK is a great washer don't let Robert make you get rid of it before we get there see you guys soon John & smity

Fred, you're three for three; one more and it's a gr

What luck you have. If Robert had found you sooner, his whole basement might be full of suds models. With your nice deep tub in the washer testing are, surely you can conduct a suds-return. If you need to be guided thru, by all means just ask.

On a serious note: In the old northern cities, during the 1950's, almost everyone's first automatic washer was a "suds." Exceptions, of course, the Frigidaire being the most notable, but even their earliest manuals showed you how to do it the Frigidaire way.

Thanks for the treats and all the work even while the Washer Wizard was away.

what a nostalgic looking machine

that lady kenmore is! very interesting control panel. love the big buttons.

as far as leaving machines in freezing weather i always disconnect hoses from the drain pump as i just did on 2 washers sitting on my porch right now. i usually try to remove the fill solonoids and bring them in also. i have had them crack myself.

love the fact that your washer is a suds savor. when i was a kid we always had a suds savor, from the norge timeline my mom had thru the g.e. and rollermatic my aunt used.

now a days people don't even know what it means! progress!!!!
is it worth it?

anyway, beautiful kenmore, enjoy playing with it, look at it as an early gift from santa under your aluminum christmas tree (that i think is too much fun!)

I have the Gas dryer...

...and a Kenmore 900 washer from that era. The washer was identical except 2 speeds and had the Variflex Agitator.

What's with the condom on your agitator. Safe washing? That probably wouldn't be a bad idea if you frequent the commercial laundries.

I don't wanna think about what happened to cause those brown marks on the wall above the dispenser--Gross.

RE: the bagged agitator. Was everything under plastic slipcovers upstairs? Or maybe somebody taught safer sex education and kinda snapped.

Greg:

"Those dryers turn up - here's one in the basement now ;-)"

No fair comparing your luck with anyone else's! ;-)

You know that minty TriStar vac you found a while back for next to nothing? I have one just like it and now it's in similar condition, but my story's a little different - I spent a year tracking down parts and attachments and restoring the thing.

I used to rebuild these Kenmore washers and dryers. Cool find. The owner of our shop used to go to the big auction in Los Angeles and buy 'em for $5ea and bring home 50 or more at a time.

That bagged agitator may be due to the grease seals on the spin tube having failed so it is/was pumping grease out into the water and making grease stains on their clothes. Very common....although I've never seen anyone bag the agitator. Or, maybe it was just to keep the agitator vanes from damaging their/her delicates.

Quick question...

Did every washer make offer a washer with suds saver at one time? If not, which ones never did?

Gary
