That really sucks. I loved those heavy porcelain enameled lids.
I have to seek these out quick as very few independant dealers do not even have them on their showroom floors. I know you can order one, but i still want to hands on experience.
These were WP's best built DD washers just by look and feel.

I was wondering if this would eventually happen. I noticed they had only two
top-loading models at their website.

Supposedly, the Maytag will assume the position of being the premium line (aka KA) in the DD lineup.
I just hope if these new DD Maytags do take the place of KA, that they will have the premium features and warranties the KA machines had. Interesting things ahead. Hope it is all for the better.
We are witnessing the last of Whirlpool's very well made top load machines going away very shortly. From what i have read and heard, Kithchenaid TL washers are going to be phased out by the end of the year.
The efficiency police are out in full force. Choices eroding more and more for those of us who still prefer to wash in an agitator TLer then those...umm... what do call them FL washers. TO me the FL belongs in the laundromat.
I am not trying to stir the pot,..hell if and ...who am i kidding,..it will happen when the FL market dominates,...so be it. As always, both types are excellent machines,..though i will always prefer an agitator machine over a FLer. Maybe in a free society in the end, BIG BROTHER knows best...BS
