even do we are in 2025 i do not know why but i miss the days where washers where simple vintage belt drive all years direct drive top load washers with matching dryer where you set the dial to needed wash time and cycle select water level wash rinse temp base on load start the washer if you let it fill before adding detergent ect put liquid fabric softner, dispenser if mountable on agitator ect pour liquid fabric softner for rinse where noting was control by a computer wash water (atc) water level and rinse water water level ect. Those where the days pic are ref of simple washers and dryers

There's an old saying......
"If it's not broken, don't mess with it"

And for decades, this was the case for home appliances, among many other consumer goods.
However, manufacturers just HAD to "mess" with things that were simple and reliable.
They entertained such things as "innovation" and "Technological Advancement", as well as catering to questionable governmental legislations on consumer goods.
This increasingly annoying road to "a better way to do things" has only caused frustration and hardship among consumers.
So not all of these so-called "advances" and "improvements" are not looked upon as welcome additions.

Nevertheless, society is vulnerable to manipulation and has easily bought-into this powerful tool of technology advancements.
Like puppets, led by continued conditioning, brainwashing, and slick marketing campaigns/advertising, this is where we are today.

I, for one, stand by my own traditional values, my own long term experiences, and I don't allow myself to be needlessly "bought into" what others consider to be acceptable, even if it's touted as something wonderful.

And my old 1985 Maytag pair has been in constant service since it was new.
That old saying: "They don't make 'em like that anymore" sure fits.
